Male Vs Female Gynos

How do you feel about male gynecologists? Do you use one? Do you prefer a female? Why or why not?

I have had male and female gynos and really it doesn't make me uncomfortable to have a male. BUT....There is just something about having a female gyno...I mean you can't expect a man to really grasp what a period cramp feels like.

I have a male and I like him. Before I had kids I always went to female ones but after three kids I could care less

I always had male gynos until I moved here. Now I have a female. Male ones don't make me feel uncomfortable, but like you said, there are things they just don't comprehend. I love my new gyno.

I've had both, and don't really care.  Quite honestly, I look at them as a DOCTOR - so their gender is pretty irrelavent to me.

When I was pregnant my husband came to all my appointments with me. Even the first one where they give you a check up/pap smear all that....

My OBGYN at the time was a man.

When we got into the car, DH asked me if he had done anything inappropriate...if he made me feel uncomfortable.

I couldnt help but laugh.

I'd rather have male honestly. I've had both and the female ones were not nice. I even had a (regular) doctor tell me once that female gynos were actually less sympathetic to women.

I tend to go to females out of habit but honestly when I was in the hospital to have dd I had a male who was on call and I have to agree that I think males may be better, he certainly seemed more gentle.  I commented about it to the nurse and she said that is often the case because women know what they can take and have this if I can do this you can mentality so female gynos are less sympathetic and more aggressive then males who have that inner respect for women so tend to be more gentle and listen more attentively.

Yep I agree. I have a female obgyn. But when I was preggo she went on vacation and had a male replacement, I didn't care at that point... I was so use to being poked and probed; it was like hurry up get it done so I can pee. LOL
