So if you scroll through any site, CM-FB-pintrest, you can find TONS of ideas for party decor. Mostly kids and parents seem to not only love doing it, but oh and ah over others.
Why does it seem so incredibly wasteful to me? How many kids really care that you have up posters of such and such character or that you made goody bags in a matching theme with little trinkets that most kids break within hours.
My son's 3rd bday is tomorrow and party next Sunday. We are going to a park to play with family. I will do 1 poster (just to mark the pavillion), about 3 streamers, and 1 balloon for him. Candy for kids to take home and a hotdog cookout. Why should I buy $30 worth of decor just to tear it down and through away an hour later. He will be busy riding his new scooter and playing his little heart out.
Anyone else KWIM??
Well, I can't remember the last time I spent $30 on party decor. Plus we don't end up trashing it after we use it. Ds still has his party decor up from his 5th b-day july before last. All of our party decor I upcycle. I make it myself out of stuff that will just end up in our recycling bin anyway. Cardboard (cereal boxes, moving boxes, whatever cardboard I happen to have on hand) is generally what I use for posters. I'll also use cans, glass jars, plastic milk jugs and so on and so forth. The kids like it. They like the themes, they like creating their own decor, they also like keeping the decor we have made to decorate their bedrooms. I also don't buy useless favors. Anything I do use as favors can either be consumed or easily used in daily life.
Quoting AJovan:
Honey, you are a smart cookie. He won't even remember the birthday party. So don't forget ur pic for the scrapbook and save your 30 bucks for more important events.---Am I the only one who thinks that parents want to compete with other parents?
The only reason I am doing streamers and poster is its a very popular park and I need to 'mark' the pavillon since its first come first serve. I only like this park since it has 4 climbing structures and paved walk ways, he is getting a toddler scooter and would love for him to be able to ride it there.
