Mary Kay or Avon/Mark or something else... What would you sell or buy???

I have thought about getting into something that I can sell and make some extra spending cash for me. I was looking at either Mary Kay or Avon/Mark. What would you prefer to either sell or buy? Also is this the only makeup line that you can sell?

I use to sell Avon and Mark but always wanted to look into Mary Kay. But I have heard with Mary Kay you have to pay upfront for the products that you are going to sell. With Avon I know you pay around 10 and then what products a customer wants to buy they pay you and then you keep a portion of that money. Is this true though with Mary Kay and does anyone know what the starting cost it with it.

I have no idea, I know some here can answer.  I think direct sales is a lot harder and more work than many people expect, in order to really earn money.  But for really motivated people I think it can be great for them.

I don't know the upfront cost either ... but I do know it takes hardwork and dedication to sale it. I prefer Mary Kay over Avon.

IDK the starting cost. so here's a bump.

there are other companies as well. such as beauty control and alloette. but if u are just looking to do soemthing u can sell, there is also pampered chef. I swear by all product pampered chef. seriously some of the best kitchen products out there.

I'm not a fan of either. I've bought some Avon products, but I didn't like any of it for the price. It seems like women who go into Mary Kay end up pressuring everyone around them to buy stuff.. I tend to avoid anyone who does either to be honest, but that's just me. I know there are others who love the products, and it you are motivated it might be a good option.

I would never sell any of because I just don't want to lol! I have bought Mary Kay and Avon in the past. I still buy Avon stuff since they offer so much in their catalogs. I actually just ordered a bunch of Hello Kitty stuff from my Avon lady. I've known the same lady for 9 years so she never pressures me into buying anything. She sends me a catalog and that is all I hear from her unless I call.

I have to say i have been in a similar business and my sister was a rep for avon, there isn't any money in it. It really isn't worth it...well to me it was not at all!

Good question, and I have seen other opportunities. Mary Kay and Avon are the oldest and most solid companies but there are so many reps. And loyal customers to go along with those reps. I have been thinking about the beauty sales business too,I am already a merchant selling a variety of products why not offer cosmetics.

Anyway here's a few you may want to check

1.NYC cosmetics,I am not sre if they still do  DSM(Direct Sales Marketing) but it wouldn't hurt to inquire.

I cant speak for the companies i dont know but I'm a Mary Kay consultant. I'm a cosmetologist and educator and chose Mary Kay because of the quality and trusted company brand: the company has been in business since 1963.

I don't like pressuring anyone & I certainly don't bug family or friends. I just think of how I would want to be treated and treat others the same.

The way i see it, I simply teach skin care and makeup application. I see the opportunity to educate and make connections. The rest grows from there.

Most times I have family and friends contacting me to get info or products for themselves or as gifts, mostly because they know it's what I do & I wouldn't steer them wrong with product recommendations.

As far as cost, it is $100+tax for the starter kit, which comes packed with $400+ value of full sized products, educational and marketing material, everything you would need to get started with classes and sales.

There are rewards, prizes and 50% commission on all sales which is high for a direct selling company. The earning potential is up to you. As with any business, you get out of it what you put into it.

If you have any specific questions, feel free to message me.
I tried to cover the basics so you at least have something to make an informed decision.

I hope that helps ;)

Mary Kay costs about $100 to start, my friend sells it. and I do know you have to sell a certain amount to make commission, so if that is the case I would think that it doesnt work the same as Avon otherwise you wouldnt be keeping the profit, you would have to pay Mary Kay and then they will pay you a cut IF you meet the expectations. I could be wrong, I am just going off what I have heard my friend say.
