My name is Trina and I am definitely new to the concept of unschooling with regard to my recent decision to homeschool my 3 children ages 7, 6, and 4. I was dissatisfied with the lack of individualism in public school. As a child and teen my mother was an unofficial unschooler. I often times spent more time with her at work, running errand, and growing up skating on the campus of UCLA while she was in graduate school obtaining her master's then doctorate. The schools I did attend were of a unschooling philosophy as well. I travelled abroad and was graded with a pass/fail system. They curriculum was how well you could pitch a tent, hike, live off of the land, white water raft, rock climb, visit youth hostels, etc. It was incredible! I welcome suggestions or insight into this beautiful way of learning. Happy Halloween!
