Quincy, Illinois Madonna House Food Pantry And Clothing Closet
Madonna House provides a food and clothing program. Any family in need can come to Madonna House for a food basket. Requirements are to sign their name on an income guideline form, and to show proof of current address. Current Drivers License, State ID, Medical Card, or utility bills are acceptable forms of proof. The food pantry is supplied with food from the Central Illinois Food Bank. We receive commodities, free of charge, and we can purchase other food items at a reduced cost. Madonna House served 307 families (816 individuals) in October, with a noted increase in the average number of families served in the last 2 months.
The Clothing Closet is also a program we offer. Members from the community and local businesses donate used clothing which supplies our clothing closet. Due to Marion Gardner Jackson Charitable Trust, Madonna House was able to build a new garage which has allowed us to quadruple the size of the clothing closet and allow us to hang the clothing so that it is easier for families to find what they need. We are now able to serve a greater number of people in need in a more efficient manner. In an average month Madonna House serves 60 families with the food bank and 44 families with the clothing pantry.
