Leavenworth parents in custody after baby found alone in alley; charges expected
KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Two Leavenworth, Kan., parents are in custody after their baby was found alone in an alley Thursday night. Police say charges will be filed Friday.
Two-month old David James Partridge Jr . was found in a stroller three blocks from his home hours after being reported missing.
Teresa Lewis, who spotted the stroller on the 1400 block of 9th Street, said that David was crying but appeared to be healthy.
Lewis found him on her way home from Bible study, during which the group had felt prompted to pray for the safety of mothers and children everywhere. While she hadn't heard any of the reports about the search for David, she called 911 as soon as she found him.
David was taken to the hospital for observation.
Police said the baby's mother was under the influence of drugs and initially couldn't tell them where he was.
David was reported missing from the 1400 block of 6th Avenue at approximately 7:30 p.m. Thursday.
The mother was the last person seen with baby David. His father didn't arrive home until after police got there.
