CHESTER BASIN, N.S. - A Grade 12 student in Nova Scotia has been suspended for wearing a T-shirt publicizing his religious beliefs.

The South Shore Regional School Board suspended William Swinimer from Forest Heights Community School in Chester Basin for five days for wearing a shirt emblazoned with the words, "Life is wasted without Jesus."

School board Supt. Nancy Pynch-Worthylake says the wording on the shirt is the problem because it is aimed at the beliefs of others.

Pynch-Worthylake says the school has spoken with Swinimer a number of times about the shirt, asking him not to wear it again.

She says the school tried mediation with the student before suspending him.

That is sad! It seems that to have no belief is fine to advertise and promote but when someone has a belief this crap happens. What is this world coming to?? **SMH**

Really? I mean, REALLY?

Does it violate the dress code? Or they just don't like it because it's Christian?

It's an interesting article. I find other countries policies on this stiff fascinating.

Strange, if it said life is wasted with religion it would be given a pass, right?

I have seen kids wearing things at school that I cant believe they get away with wearing. Its just ridiculous how they tell kids they can and cant dress. Some things I can see but this?Thats just not right.

Considering he was warned before about the shirt then I have no outrage.

I also have no outrage. 'No slogal t-shirts' is very often school rules.

Imagine if it read 'Life is wasted on Jesus'...

Or perhaps they don't like it because it is intentionally offensive to non-Christians?
