I Called The Police Last Night

I've posted about my awful neighbors before and it ia dramatically gotten worse. The kids now stand outside our door and blow whistles at all hours, the screaming has increased, they body slam themselves against our wall and windows outside. Its beyond out of control.
I called the cops last night to find out what our noise ordinance is and turns out it's anytime after noon that we are being disturbed. So I told the cop what was going on and she could hear it. She sent someone out but I asked to remain anonymous, they've retaliated enough.
Cop shows up and asks adult 'did you guys call?' Guy says no, obviously. Cop says 'oh okay we got a call about noise here but they didn't specify. Have a good night!'
And they left!! I was Sooooo pissed!!! I just went to bed but if it happens again tonight I'm calling. Every damn night until real action is taken.

That's horrible. I'm not going to lie, I laughed a little bit though.

Quoting acrogodess:

Ha. When we first moved here we had people banging on our door day and night confusing my house for the apartment of the dealer next door. The police even almost kicked down the front door to the house before realizing their mistake. Still has the dent too of their footprints

Quoting SisterPeach:

Geez. And I was all mad because we have a solicitation problem here. I mean, every day, someone banging on my door. At least they aren't cursing at me, though!

Quoting acrogodess:

My best friend is going to see about fawning out some of his stock to lend us the money to move to a nicer area. I need to get us out of here hopefully within the next week and no later than mid July. If it's this bad before the kids are out of school it will only get worse. Peter was coming home Friday night with the kids from watching a movie with them and just as they were getting home some teens thought it was funny to call Alexander who's just 11 a "fat f*ck". I am livid.

Quoting SisterPeach:

OMG!!!!! that's horrible!

I would call everyday until they did something

Agreed. We have a nice family that moved in next door and THEIR upstairs neighbors had a party, making a mess in the backyard that she and then I cleaned so our children could play there. Touching HER things and telling her she was being rude because it was a party.

Then today the lady told her she would get the family's home invaded. They have a 5 yr old and 8 yr old girls. I told my kids until those a**holes get under control they are not allowed at the neighbors house to play. Our neighbors are welcome over here

I hope that your best friend is able to lend you the money so that you can get out of there, it doesn't sound like it's a safe place at all for your family.

My neighbors have a dog that barks constantly and is chained up in their back yard which happens to be right next to my bedroom window.... and they are always blaring oldies rock music all hours of the day and night. And they are always burning trash and having bonfires in their back yard and the nasty smell comes in through my air conditioners and gives me a headache. Aren't neighbors lovely? lol

you can't be anonymous if you want it to stop.. the cops need to know who is filing the complaint so they can write up the report..

you CAN get a restraining order against them, and if they touch your house, they will be arrested.

get a video camera and record what's going on outside of your windows, you may also be able to file property damage, and vandalism.. etc.

oh my. I hope that gets better. My neighbors moved intot the house next door after we moved into our new home. The mom has 11 kids(im not kidding) most under 15. The middle aged kids are the worst and disrespectful. All the kids are constantly in our yard (ITS FENCED!) digging up our plants and ripping out the chainlink posts. I have talked to her and she doesnt care. She heard what I had to say and walked away and avoids us instead of controling her children.

Finally I really put my foot down and explained to them how upset I was at them, the little ones stopped and the medium sized started back talking, my husband walked up and said "HEY! Did you hear her? She said NO JUMPING off the garage roof. You stay in YOUR YARD and out of our yard. Did you get that? And you? Good."

They looked scared, we never yell at them but I dont think they have ever been expected to listen to instructions before. They havent been much of a hastle since, but our neighbor behind us has an empty for sale house and HER YARD is being distroyed. I called the realtor a couple times and other neighbors have been calling police(broken windows, baseball bat to cars, etc)

but if I have to pick, I am going to pick MY YARD over someone elses.

I talked to my DH (a 23 year police officer) this is what he said as well....he also said to keep calling the police every time an incident occurs, but nothing will really happen until you stop hiding behind anon. Don't blame the cop either, he's just doing his job and working within the protocols he's supposed to. :) Good Luck!

Around here, they would have considered that "disturbing the peace" and they would have at least told them that they'll get fined if they are called back again.
