Ok this is just silly in my opinion, if my fiances parents had to BUY my engagement ring for him I would have said no. *shakes head*

I've paid my own education, my own car, my own house and I'll be paying for my own wedding. I don't see why at any age people think its their parents responsibility to pay for them to go through life. It's great if they can help or want to but if you're old enough to be getting married you're old enough to take on the responsibilities of funding the wedding yourself. Just my opinion as I'm used to paying my own way in life.

I honestly think most people or if you want to call them children pay for their own way in this day and age. This "guideline" just made me "laugh out loud" literally at how silly it was. How is it the parents responsibility to pay for a honeymoon? Just silly in my mind! It's nice if parents or grandparents can help out but it should never be expected! Especially for things as important and intimate as the engagement ring, wedding rings and honeymoon!

its also one of those "traditions" as well or just very sterotypical... wish it stayed lol, I know i would definitly at least help out my daughter on her wedding day, they are getting way to expensive
