This is the back splash we have to work with

Here is a decent pic of my cabinets...disregard mess :-)

This is the tile we just bought for 4.00 a box!

We have to figure out what we're going to do with the countertops. We have white paint that has been waiting in my basement for almost two years for the cabinets. Obviously we are going with the wine theme. Any suggestions?
Thanks,
Courtney

Are you planning on staying there for a few years or plan on moving?
Either way, I think white cabinets are a great idea. They will brighten up your kitchen. New knobs will make them look new too. I think it would be cool if you could put a tile or glass tile back splash. Don't know if you want to go that far. Are those real bricks? If you don't do a back splash. Maybe you could just sponge paint the bricks or do some cool part glaze, part paint technique and then just paint the rest of the walls. The tile is very pretty. I'm assuming that's for the floor? Looks great. When you say wine theme, it that the color or you want to hang pics of wine bottles. also, the coutertops depend on your budget. Laminates are nice but granite has great resale. Granite tiles are pretty. there are also many green options today. Many of the shows use butcher block and I think that looks cool. Keep me posted.:0) Food and Fitness with articles from Dr. Oz

Unless someone buys us a new home, we are planning on staying her for many years :-)
The knobs are actually new on the cabinets. When we moved in they had aweful white cermic knobs. This was the onlly thing we could afford to change right off the bat. I'm not partial to the brick, which aren't real, but I also don't have the time to tear them down, so I'm trying to just work with them. The tile is for the floor. here is the picture that is the main inspiration for our room. The color scheme is taken from it... ![]() We put aside 400 to do the kitchen ourselves. The paint is already purchased, so that isn't included in the budget. We spent 84 on the tile, so we are left with 316. We still have to purchase all the tile accesories, and we are considering just buying a tile saw off of craigslist and reselling it when we are done. Keep me posted.:0) |

I love that counter top! What about those tin tiles for your backsplash? You could use the copper ones and maybe even be able to put them over the existing brick. Just a thought. :)
