Home Interior Decorating Ideas and Tips
I just brought my home and I want to do some changes in it, I was in a dilemma of hardwood or carpet, I definitely want hardwood but now i don't know if i should also do hardwood in the kitchen and dining room, I currently have ceramic tile white ones and I don't think it will match with the hardwood.... ANYWAY TO MY QUESTION
I need to buy furniture and I don't know what kind is better microfiber or leather....
I really like Microfiber but leather looks really nice.
Which is better? help

I despise my microfiber. We are moving into our new house in December and will be getting LEATHER.

I worked for a furniture store for 6 years. I have seen items come back for many different reasons when the customer purchased the damage warranty. Leather furniture was the one material that came back the most because you are limited to what you can use to clean. Personally I have an offwhite microfiber and I love it. I would suggest that you get the furniture scotchguarded before delivery, it makes a world of difference.
I have had my sofa for 4 years now and I have never had a problem with cleaning it at all. I use either soapy water or the hand atachment on my carpet shampooer. Both work great on getting stains out. this weekend the dog knocked my hubby's red drink out of his hand and onto the sofa. Well after the carpet cleaner, the sofa looked like new once dry. |

hate microfiber... its awful. my mom bought a microfiber sofa that might i add was not cheap and two weeks later, even with a scotchguard, my son spilt water... water on it and it left a water mark, so anytime you wipe it down with a rag, you can see the wipe marks... plus, i cant stand the way they feel.

Hmmm...I just bought my chocolate brown microfiber soft and loveseat about 8 months ago and I gotta say, I love mine. It does show spill marks BUT I take a spray bottle filled with water and a little gain washing powders AND fabric softener and spray all the seats down and then go back over them with a wet washcloth it all comes out and looks like new once it's dried. Then on top of being clean they also smell great now. I have 5 kids and this has been the best kid friendly furniture I've owned.

I guess my BIL wants it when he moves though, he can have it. It's only 4 1/2 years old and I paid over $1000 but I bet if I tried to sell it I'd be lucky to get $200. |

I've had both - Leather & Microfiber. I will NEVER own Leather again. It requires too much care to keep it looking nice, it's cold to sit/lay on when the A/C is going and it's hot when the heat is going. Never a comfortable temerpature with it. You also have to worry about keeping it clean - your not supposed to spill anything on it or you could damage the leather. Also, after a couple years, it begins showing age. You also have to keep it out of direct sunlight as that can damage the leather, too (the sun will fade & age it).
I have Microfiber couches now and I love them. They are comfortable, soft, easy to clean, and seem to be durable. I've had my furniture for 5 years and I also have a 2 1/2 year old daughter. My furniture is still in excellent condition. ![]() |

I hate the microfiber chair I have. I would not want leather though cuz it has it's own troubles. I suggest you enjoy picking out watever beautiful fabric you want and having the store scotchgaurd the heck out of it--a double shot before it comes home. I have 10 pets and 2 kids on my couch and loveseat and never a stain. It still looks really good.
And you mentioned hardwood floors...real hardwood floors have many drawbacks as well. I'd get a good quality laminate and it will last you years and years with NO troubles and no hard work of maintaining it.
