I kept telling him I wanted a Burnt Orange in the Dining room. He thought it woudl be too dark adn since we couldn't come to a conclusion together I told him just to pick out the paint color because I was tired of fighting. He picked out this HORRIBLE peach color that as soon as I put one roll on the wall I knew I HATED.......

The other night we were in Lowe's getting his Fathers' Day gift when I saw a book called "Decorating and Painting" I was looking through it and foudn the exact color I had wanted and he looked at it and said "Oh that is pretty" I just rolled my eyes.  At dinner the next night DH was looking around the room adn said to me "You know what? This color is really ugly." I just wanted to hurt this man LOL

Nothing is what I wanted the only one room that is painted the color I wanted it to be is my DD's room. he wouldn't let me paint the kitchen in fear I wouldn't like. He messed up the paint color for the living room now he is making me wait until we get new couches and new carpet.  AAAAaaaaaaaaaaaaaaHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

I would want to hurt Dh to if he did something like that!

Luckily dh only said to me when I wanted to paint "no black or pink" LOL  He has nothing to do with the painting around here unless it's something I can't reach.

I think my husband is related to your husband.  Men are just plain IDIOTS!  I do believe men should stay away from decorating a house.  It's not in their genes.  Well, I wish you luck in getting the color you want fairly soon!

My husband is color blind also.I always go ahead and do it my way.He may groan and moan while Im painting but he likes the end results. The problem with men is that they cant see far enough to invision end results. We once had the exterior of our home painted the wrong color. It was susposed to be a sandy brown and we got gray.Come to find out,my husband had told the man gray because in his head sandy brown and gray were the same.We had to live with that mistake. To expensive to start over.Good Luck

This is why I don't tell my husband color names or anything of the sort.  He doesn't know what the hell a "burnt" orange is.  If something is burned then it's black ... like when they burn our dinner when they try to cook.

I let my hubby have input, but it works like this ...

"I'm doing accent areas in green.  Which green do you like more?  Choice one, two, or three?"

They are colors that I want and he doesn't get to see anything besides those colors.  Sometimes, if I'm undecided between 2 choices I give him just two options ... then I usually pick the opposite one.  LOL  I did do that though.  We want kind of a yellow tone for our neutral color.  I found a color that I liked, but the other color on the swatch that was one shade darker was catching my eye too.  He liked the lighter one .... my gut says darker .... so I convinced him that it was HIS idea we do the darker one for more warmth, glow, and contrast.  lol  Hey!  I got what I wanted!  ;o)

This is the reason I pick out the paint colors and I do the painting. There is no way I would let him do it. No way. I am in the process right now of picking colors for the livingroom , diningroom, stairs and hallway.

peach is an awful color, it should have died with the 80's. please repaint those walls, burnt orange is beautiful!  dont be a victim of the 80's!!!

I think the idea of choosing three colors and letting your husband pick what he likes is the way to go. He can't surprise you with something you hate and he feels like he has imput.

The peachy orange colors are hard to work with. My sister is an artist so she has an excellant eye for color. Her recent choice for a room just didn't work when it is was all finished. Anyone can have a miss once and awhile.

If you have bought a color and it is just not drying the hue you expected add a little white or black to change it. Experimenting can give you some great results.
