I agree discipline fits the behaviour.

My SD is 13 and 17 grounding does not work . She is very disrespectful and rude. They still have tantrums even at there age. They cuss hit and fight with each other .what would you do if these were your children ? My one yr old doesn't even do this .
I can talk to my 13yr old till im blue in the face and still he will take no notice, sometimes a smacked bottom seems the only thing that gets through to him so until i see a change in his behaviour i will continue to spank him as long as i feel it still works.

hi, i think both are acting younger than their age , so warn them , tell them to knock it off and if they dont , just say the magic words "okay , now you both are getting it , when we get home, and keep your promise, in my home , the car is in front of the house, and a calmly say, get to your room and get that butt ready, pants off , and i wait 10 minutes or so and come in with my spoon , and the fireworks start, works everytime. time, good luck tina

Quoting Carolyn77:I believe in progressive discipline with the last step a trip over my lap for a good sound spanking. Usually I don't need to get to that step because they know that all of the consequences including the spanking await them if they continue with any misbehavior.
This is my approach, as well and it usually works before getting to that over the knee step. Sometimes however, they just seem determined to get there. I tend to bend over backwards and give them every benefit of the doubt before reaching that point, sometimes too much so......but when it gets to a certain point, I know it's time....and they know soon after that!
Yesterday at a McDonald's I had just pulled in to the parking lot when this other car parked next to me and her daughter ( probb 14 or so) gets out and takes her sweet time putting on her knee high suede boots drawing attention her self by spending time brushing them off!!
I would have told her "oh hell no get back in the car Missy we are going to go back home to take some of that attitude out of you!"!
