"Now a soft kiss," beloved English poet John Keats once wrote. "Aye, by that kiss, I vow an endless bliss."

Indeed, truer words have never been spoken. Whether it's on film ("Brokeback Mountain," "Cruel Intentions") or in real life (the now-famous same-sex smooch between two female U.S. petty naval officers after the repeal of "don't ask, don't tell" last fall), there are few things we have a harder time resisting than a passionate kiss.

In honor of Valentine's Day, check out photos and videos of some of our favorite same-sex kisses from around the world, as well as on TV and on the big screen. If these don't get you in a romantic mood, we don't know what will.

A Navy tradition caught up with the 2011 repeal of the U.S. military's "don't ask, don't tell" rule when Marissa Gaeta And Citlalic Snell, two U.S. naval petty officers, became the first to share the coveted "first kiss" on the pier after one of them returned from 80 days at sea.
