Forget LGBT People, The Real Victims Are Pro-Lifers

February 7, 2012

In yet another attempt at painting himself, a white, male multi-millionaire, as a victim, Bill O’Reilly said that pro-life people encounter more bigotry than LGBT people.

On yesterday’s show, guest Bernie Goldberg talked with O’Reilly about two of last week’s biggest headlines, the Susan G. Komen Foundation and the protests agains JC Penney for hiring Ellen DeGeneres as a spokesperson.

“Reasonable people may disagree on gay marriage, that’s fine,” Goldberg said. “But to call on someone’s dismissal to be fired, to lose her job, because she’s gay, is bigotry. And I don’t care how many people listening to us right now don’t like that, it’s bigotry.”

O’Reilly countered that people don’t hate Ellen DeGeneres because she’s gay, “it’s how she presents it to the public, that she flaunts it.”

Goldberg said, “I flaunt my heterosexuality.”

“She makes it a cause celeb,” said O’Reilly.

“There’s no agenda. She’s just gay. She wants to live her life as a gay person,” replied Goldberg.

Then O’Reilly pulled the victim card:

“The bigotry against pro-life people is I think way more than the bigotry against gay people,” he said. “Particularly in the media because the media supports gay people in this country.”

First off, a well deserved kudos to Bernard Goldberg. As for O’Reilly’s assertion that the bigotry against pro-life people is worse, it’s people like him that are trying to force gay people (like DeGeneres) into the closet that is causing an epidemic of suicides among gay teenagers and young adults. When pro-life people start being victims of bullying to the point of killing themselves, it’s time for another discussion.

I like Ellen, I don't care if she's gay or not. I never really thought she flaunted it, either

O'Reilly says "she makes it a cause celebe" about her gayness.  What he is failing to see is, even if that's true, she would not need to do so if they would just pass gay marriage everywhere.  There would then be no cause to celeb lol.

He really tries to spin whatever he can into him and the right being victims.  Ellen as a JC Penney spokesperson gets twisted into his own personal percecution!????

I think he's reaching so far he's going to trip on this one.

Ellen doesn't make her sexual orientation a "cause celeb", everyone else does.  She isn't the one who even made an issue with it with JCPenny's.  SMH.
