When people start throwing this middle school term around, do they lose credibility with you?

 Yes.

 Very few people actually "hate" someone they don't know, especially a politician. I can definitely see not agreeing with their politics and even hating some of their decisions or policies, but hate? Nah.

Yes.  I find it's usually a tactic to put the other parties on defense.  It's irritating, but I feel if someone has to jump to a conclusion like that they have already lost the battle.
