My Understanding Of Evangelical Politics

We aren't supposed to impose religious tests on presidential candidates, but if the candidate doesn't espouse the correct religion to conservative Christians, that's OK.

We are supposed to be afraid of Sharia law coming to America, but it's OK for conservative Christians to try and push their religious agendas regarding abortion, gay marriage and birth control into our laws.

We are supposed to think that underwear models and beer commercials render the Super Bowl unacceptable for children to watch, but aborted fetuses are perfectly acceptable viewing fare.

We are not supposed to tell others how to raise their children by teaching evolution in science classes, but they are supposed to decide when our children should learn about abortion.

Religious symbols should be permitted on governmental property, including crosses on water towers, creches on courthouse lawns, and prayer banners in public schools, in breach of the First Amendment, but the First Amendment should be asserted when the government mandates all employers to offer certain insurance coverages, and some employers have religious affiliations.

Did I get that right?  I'm a voter, and I need to understand.

Well then I guess that's why you're a liberal whom I assume is an Atheist from everything you said here and the way you said it and why I'm a proud Christian Conservative. There is one thing we can both agree on and that is that we will never agree on much of anything if anything at all. Thank God we live in a country where we both have the right to express our beliefs, thank God for freedom of speech!

 I'm a social liberal.  I'm a fiscal conservative.  I'm a mix of political opinions.

There is nothing wrong with being a proud Christian Conservative.

And I agree, I'm glad we have freedom of speech (although within the constraints of CafeMom as it is a private business).

I just don't understand the hypocrisy I pointed out.  It is bugging me.

I'm always happy to have someone explain it.  Wanna try?  :-)

I don't think this will help at all, but, for me as a christian have my beliefs.  They are mine, and I try to live them daily.  I do not judge your beliefs, they are yours.

Thanks for your response.  I understand we each have our beliefs.

My question has to do with the contradictions I have noted.  How do you rectify those?
