WASHINGTON — D.C. police are investigating a shooting death near the Lincoln Memorial as an apparent suicide.
The victim was found in West Potomac Park on Sunday morning.
A man was killed on Sunday morning after shots were heard near the National Mall,NBC Washington reports.
WTOP reports U.S. Park Police found a man dead in West Potomac Park, near the Lincoln Memorial, after receiving several calls reporting a shooting in the area.
The investigation has been handed over to D.C. Police, the AP reports.
David Schlosser, a spokesman for the U.S. Park Police, told the Huffington Post, "This is a death investigation. All death investigations in DC are handled by Metropolitan PD."
Several streets in the area have been closed off in light of the investigation.
