Why NOT Ron Paul?

I don't understand why people are so against Ron Paul. Every other candidate in this race is just another politician playing the game whether Republican or Democrat. Ron Paul has shown a consistent record of standing by the Constitution. He doesn't let politics, lobbyists, or other congressmen influence his decisions if it isn't supported by the Constitution. He has shown integrity in his public and private life whereas every other candidate has not in some way or another. Have you looked into his positions on all the issues, or are you simply getting your information through the media? I think a lot of people let the press influence their thinking, and the press is certainly against Ron Paul! Why the bashing?

Conservatives don't want liberty, they want everybody to do things the "right" way.

Hey, I am all for Ron Paul. If I were a registered Republican, I would so vote for him...He is going to help my candidate win.

He is going to pull away so many republican voters, that a vote for Ron is a vote for Obama! GO RON!

I mean they want people to meet thier expectations of what a "good" person is and live the kind of life they consider moral.

Two easy examples...many conservatives don't dig his hands-off drug policy because they think people's behavior needs to be regulated and monitored. That's not liberty.

Many conservatives only believe in "traditional" marriage. Liberty is allowing consenting individuals to enter into a legally binding agreement to share children, property, wealth, and debt...not checking to see what's between their legs first.

Do not believe for one minute that Ron Paul doesn't have any skeletons in his closet, everyone does.

With that said, I am not against Ron Paul at all, in fact I used to be a very active supporter.  I agree with his views (in theory) to a great extent.  However, the policies that Ron Paul espouses do not strike a balance of freedom vs security that I am comfortable with.

I'm 100% behind Ron Paul now.  But I can tell you why I didn't give him a fair shake in 2008.

Until recently, I didn't think there was any way that our government could get away with the crap that they do.  I thought that ethics committees actually investigated ethics issues, and acted appropriately.  I didn't realize that Congress was exempt from Insider Trading laws.  I thought journalists still had the ability and desire to dig into possible wrong-doings and bring them to the light, and I thought people would listen and react if it was found to be true.

I didn't think we'd ever print money to hand over to banks, and especially not banks in foreign countries.  I didn't think we would continue to put our service men/women in volitile situations overseas for the sole purpose of flexing our American muscles.  I didn't think we would actually walk guns across the Mexican border, lose those guns, and the reaction be "Oops.  Our bad."  I didn't think we would pass a Healthcare Bill without reading it, and knowing EXACTLY how it was going to work.

I didn't look into the mistakes of the past.  History is repeating itself, it's just that the government has gotten better at hiding and justifying their mistakes.

This country has been on a downward spiral since the second those planes hit the towers.  Now everything is a matter of National Security.  All they have to do is classify things and we won't know what's going on.  And the only conclusion I can come to is that our government is corrupt and broken, and there are too few watching what they are doing.  And the few who are, are labeled kooks.  I've been called worse for standing up for less, so...that's why. :-)  For me anyway.  But now I know that we've got huge problems and they won't be fixed by staying on the same path we are on now.

Of course all this is just my opinion. :-)

How do you see him "pulling away so man republican voters" and how is a vote for Paul, a vote for Obama? I thought a vote for Obama was a vote for Obama?

Trust me, I was on the other end of this a long time ago. Ron Paul is the equivalent to Ralph Nadar ONLY when it comes to voter turnout. Ron's supporters are very devoted, as were Ralph's. Nadar pulled just enough of the lib votes away to allow George Jr a victory for the Rep's. Ron's people are just as devoted. I REALLY hope that he runs as an independent.
