Honest Question: Could Santorum win the general election?

I was at a family function yesterday and overheard two men discussing how much they liked Rick Santorum and how they hope he ends up getting the GOP Nomination over Mitt.  My first thought was, is there a snowball's chance in hell that Santorum could win in the GE?  He seems very far right in many of his beliefs, I just wonder if he would appeal to enough voters to win over Obama.  What do you all think?

I don't think he would appeal to the majority of moderate voters. 

I certainly wouldn't vote for him, but I suppose his views are a threat to me should he be able to put them into laws.

I don't really think so either, but he is winning an impressive number of states in the primaries.  So those voters must think he has a chance...

I would be surprised if he won in a general election.  His social issues are too extreme.  Personally I can't stand him or his sweater vest lol

Any man who wants Rick Santorum to win, should only have sex for procreation purposes, because that is what God wants, and Rick has a direct line to him, don't ya know
