What's Wrong With Being Progressive?

I've seen several times now in posts people commenting on so-and-so being a Progressive and how horrible that is.  If you are disgusted by politicians that you label Progressive, can you share a little bit about why?

There's nothing wrong with being progressive.  Progress is awesome, as long as it's going in the right direction.  What's wrong is the agenda behind some of the "progressive" movements.

 Been to Greece lately?

Read up on any new tax issues from the UK lately?

How about Detroit, shall we go around that block again?

Your opinion is that Progressivism is responsible for all of those situations?
