Health care as defined is the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of disease, illness, injury and other physical and mental impairments in humans. Reproduction is defined as the biological process by which new “offspring” individual organisms are produced from their “parents.” Contraception is defined as the intentional prevention of conception by artificial or natural means. Sterilization is defined is a term referring to any process that eliminates, removes, or kills all forms of microbial life, including transmissible agents present on a surface, contained in a fluid, in medication, or in a compound such as biological culture media.

To say that contraception and sterilization practices are reproductive health care is in and of themselves false representation of what these practices are.

To force American citizens, employers and employees both, to go against their deeply help religious beliefs by mandating that they provide insurance that covers services that are not by definition as stated above health services is beyond reckoning. ..... [ ]to support such a blatant violation of our religious freedom that this country was founded on is reprehensible.

I still don't understand how access equates to free in liberals minds.  How is BC inaccessible if someone has to pay out of pocket for it?  BTW, there are plenty of other ways to make something free besides forcing religious institutions to pay for it.  Many of these options already exist, like medicaid and Planned Parenthood.  But things like direct tax credits could also be issued (not that I"m at all in favor of that).

Let's see: we've had abortion, Michelle Obama's health initiative, abortion, Michelle Obama's vacations, abortion, Michelle Obama's wardrobe, abortion and now the birth control-church non-issue (with a lil' abortion on the side).

Really bringing some new topics to the table, zilla!!

And from your side we've had Rick Santorum, Rick Santorum, Rick Santorum!

"Contraception and abortion are not healthcare. Its that simple. You don't want to get pregnant? Don't have sexual intercourse. A lot of people commenting on this blog seem to have forgotten this. Sexual intercourse is not an involuntary act. Those of you who disagree with this need to ask the question; do you control you or does the popular culture control you?"

This comment who ever wrote it cracks me up!  Yes, let's just STOP having sex with our husbands so they can eventually go out and find someone else that will.  Perpetuate the divorce rate to increase exponentially, and then you have created the ultimate storm!  Good idea NOT!  What Einstein thought of this brilliant comment?  Sex is a gift from God to be a good thing between a married man and woman!  I am not buying this at all!  As far as BC goes, God made scientist, and he gave people the ability to think!  Now you know how it feels to have a a vaginal probe stuck up your vagina if you want to abort.  Un-constitutional isn't it!  A violation of ones personal rights as a human being.  All this personal attacks on our rights needs to stop.  It is not the governments right to intervene with our bodies or our choices.

I'm sorry for your loss. :-(

In cases such as yours it should be considered necessary because, by defination, it prevents injury.

Health care as defined is the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of disease, illness, injury and other physical and mental impairments in humans.

Yeah well tell that to my endometriosis and the ectopic pregnancy I had because of it.The tube exploded and I almost bled to death.I all so lost a baby we dearly wanted. If I had been taking BC all along until we wanted to get pregnant that baby might be alive today.

Contraception

Definition

Contraception (birth control) prevents pregnancy by interfering with the normal process of ovulation, fertilization, and implantation. There are different kinds of birth control that act at different points in the process.

Please tell me how this is not related to health.

It might explain a lot actually.

You come and tell my husband of 14 years that we can't have intercourse unless we want to have a baby (at 50 and 65 - and yes I still can, but no I won't).  I love DH and he loves me and we have the right to show each other!

You actually advocate that women not have sex with their husbands.

I am blown away, truly.
