It's not required here in Boston.  I tell them where my name is and point and they take my word for it. It's lovely.

If I have to provide ID for alchohol then I should be ID'd to vote!

Here in FL it is required everytime you vote... and if you vote absentee in order for your vote to be counted the signature on the certificate envelope needs to match the signature on file.

I think that it is crazy that it is not required by law in every single state every single time you vote.

I think initially it is required, but once your name is on the record then you just tell them your name and address.

How do they know that I'm not voting your ballot and using your name ?

You have to have an ID to (all of these are to "Legally" do) buy beer

you have to have an ID to pick up certain prescriptions

you are required to have an ID to drive a car

an ID is required to get a job

an ID is required to cash a check

an ID is required to buy or lease a home

an ID is required to stay in a hotel

an ID is required to rent a car

and ID is required to get on a plane

an ID is required to enter a nightclub

an ID is required to sign a contract for a phone

an ID is required to use a foodstamp card (I think since they are like debit cards)

In the US, you are required to always have an ID on you in public if you are over 18

So who the heck are all these people without ID's and how do they live on a daily basis? Are they all criminals with fake ID's? Are they all breaking the law and just finding some covert way of avoiding the laws?

I have never needed an ID to vote. I live in a very close knit community and the person(s) always knows me by name that is checking me in.

Where I live... in the high school even the students have to have their student ID on them at all times.

I wonder these exact same things as you.
