Ann Romney wears a $1000 shirt while millions are struggling to feed themselves!! Is it insensitive??
Like the shirt that Ann Romney was wearing on Tuesday? It’ll cost you a pretty penny.
The bird print top, made by Reed Krakoff costs $990, a saleswoman at the designer’s store in Manhattan told Styleite. The piece is part of the Krakoff’s spring 2012 ready-to-wear collection. A publicist for the line told ABC Newsthat they “had nothing to do with” Romney wearing the item. “She must have bought it from Saks or Bergdorf’s, we definitely didn’t send it to her,” she said.
Romney wore the shirt (but not the matching pants made to go with it) during an appearance on “CBS This Morning” with her husband, Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney.
Who cares? Not Bill Burton, former deputy press secretary under Obama, who defended Romney on “The Bill Press Show” on Tuesday.
“I’m of the view that Ann Romney should be off-limits,” Burton said. “…I remember in 2007 and 2008 when people would go after Mrs. Obama. I was enraged about it. Because you never know if they even signed up for this willingly. They may just be supportive and along for the ride.”
The Romney campaign didn’t immediately respond to a request for comment.
This is such a travesty!!!! Ann Romney is such an elitist. With millions struggling & unable to buy food for their family, she walks around in $1000 shirts. Is this the kind of 1st lady we want?? She should show some compassion and wear cheaper clothes & not flash all her money!......
...... Isn't this what they said when Mrs. Obama wore expensive clothes?? I wonder if they feel the same away about Ann. Come on GOP talk trash about Ann Romney the same way you talked trash about Michelle Obama during the 2008 campaign for all her expensive clothes...... Unless you're hypocrites! lol
Why is it okay to bash Michelle Obama about wearing designer clothes, but then the Right feels it's a non issue when Ann Romney wears designer clothes?
Quoting Sweet_Faith:
I don't agree with that, but the same could be said about Obama and his wife too, what's your point?
I'm curious what you don't agree with. It is, after all, their money to spend how they see fit. And they do give a great deal of money to charity. Or is it that you think it is a bad idea strategy-wise?
I remember the video montage of Michelle Obama's wardrobe that was posted in the P, C&E answers forum.
I am sure $990 in the Romney's budget is like $9.90 in most of ours. You only know what you know. They do not know average or typical-
They do not know what ails America or how to fix it- they do not live our reality.
Im sorry, but that shirt is still cheaper than one of the 20 (slight exag) vacations Michelle Obama has taken on our dollar.
I VOTED for BO..and will again. But the First Family must lead by example...and the First Lady taking her entire entourage on months long exotic vacations on the nations dime is much worse than a woman who paid for her own designer shirt.
Quoting sweet-a-kins:I remember the ignorant repugs in this group posting about Mrs. Obama wearing sneakers that cost $500...
oh the horror!
called her all typed of names....
Quoting Momniscient:
Good point.
I'd like to see the justifications.
FTR: I don't think it matters one bit what Mrs. Obama or Mrs. Romney wears.
It does interest me to think about who the true peddlers of class warfare are though.

I just think spending a crazy amount of money on one item like that is crazy when one could just imagine how many mouths it could feed, especially when it comes to hungry and starving children.
Thank goodness for poor people who are willing to work for pennies on the dollar so rich people can have more money to buy $1000 t-shirts.
Quoting rocketracer:thanks goodness for rich people!
Quoting im23vaughn:The designer said she bought it off the rack.
Quoting rocketracer:
There is a difference here. One doesn't play the class warfare game, while the other one does so. BTW: I don't care what one or the other wears. Besides, one is probably still buying her own clothes and the other one is gifted a lot of her clothes. Nothing wrong with being gifted clothes b/c it gives American designers the opportunity to present their collections. So hopefully, rich people will see the collections and buy the designers clothes, jewelry, shoes, accessories, etc. to help boost the economy. Thank goodness for rich people, but does anyone know if Anne Romney bought it or was it gifted to her. If she bought it, the designer and the designer's employee have to be happy. W/out rich people the designer and all the designer's employees would be out of work.
Shoot congressmen admit they don't even read most of the legislation they vote on.If they don't know what they are voting on how are we to know?
Quoting im23vaughn:I agree. I think a lot of our solutions have no easy answers. I also believe some don't have answers. The solution hasn't been discovered. We pretend that all the POTUS or Congress has to do is waive a wand to fix things. But I don't think the average voter has really read all the documents & etc that effect the outcome of each change.
I mean sure, some of us read an article that has been paraphrased by some liberal or conservative journalist to get our information. But how many of us actually view the actual documents. We know what percentage of the budget goes where, but how many of us know what each dollar goes to & why it is or isn't important?
Then again, so much of the REAL information is classified. So we form our opinions without all the information needed to make the proper assessment.
Being the POTUS or a Congressional leader is a hard job. Many couldn't do it.
Quoting erika9009:
I guess the point I was trying to make is that this is a none issue to distract from the real ones listed bellow. I'm sure the Repub were doing it to make the Michelle look like she spends hords of tax payer money. Both parties seem to be afraid of coming up with real solutions to our problems.
Quoting im23vaughn:
Yea, is that what the GOP was calling it when they were complaining about how much Michelle Obama's clothes cost? Didn't think so. Hypocrites.
Quoting erika9009:
Humm....................this seem like more class warefare to distract the people from the economy, lack of jobs, high gas prices and debt.
I have to wonder how much Pres Obama's suits cost?
It doesn't matter. Let's stay on the REAL issues people.
It is always OK when a conservative does it.Not OK when a liberal does it.At least that is what I have seen on most groups I have been at on CM.
Quoting Citygirlk:
I remember that and that same person complained about them sending sasha to mexico with a lot secret service guys. But if it were the bush twins its ok.

OMG, I'm so sick of people thinking that the rich should be ashamed of being rich. What do I care what Ann Romney paid for her shirt?
FTR, I dont care what Michelle Obama pays for her clothes either.
