The attitude is the effect of being a second class citizen...people have to right to get mad and STRIP rights because they don't like a whole groups attitude (didn't know we were judging all the gays by some that have an attitude)

If I stripped your rights because I didn't support your lifestyle and didn't like your "attitude" would your attitude improve or not?

So, you break a rule and your straight, you get detention.  You break a rule and your gay/lesbian, it's ok and the straight people need to be tolerant.

I see your point but this is not a good example as gay/lesbian didn't have the right to marry before many of the bans.

Now, a good example for me might be the choice of being a SAHM.  If "they" tried to ban that, I would be mad.  However, I would not use the activist approach at all.  I would show how great it is for my kids for me to be home.  That's the best example I can think of right now.  Maybe one wil pop in my head later.

I'm Christian and our church doesn't want the gays to stay out.  We welcome all people.  And you're right, we should love one another.  It's not up to me judge whether or not someone's lifestyle is right or wrong, that's between them and God.   People who lump all Christians together as "gays haters" are being just as judgmental as the Christians that judge gays.

 It should have ALWAYS been a right....it should have NEVER been illegal...

It's an unconstitutional stripping of rights that exist without anyone granting them....religios beliefs are not grounds for gay marriage to be banned...at least not according to the Constitution.

For decades many gays kept the status quo because they were beaten, murdered and oustracized...so the "attitude" comes from THAt...blame the homophobes and the bigots that put gay people in this position

 I'm glad you feel that way.

 I don't think all Christians "hate Gays", not even some Christians.  in fact I think they just disapprove ,in some cases, but I haven't seen anyone say they "hate" gays. On other threads , I have seen posters say they do want to keep gays out of their churches....Not you, but others elsewhere . They think people chose to be gay. They call them sinners . But when called on it, they say that they hate the sin, not the sinner, and that is lame.They are out there. It isn't fair but a few do discriminate against gays and lesbians in many ways.

Interesting, whether is should or should not have been is an opinion, but I wanted to stay as factual and maybe legal precedent.  Just to be in full disclosure, I used to be fine with gay marriage.  Now, I'm really on the fence about it because of this activist approach. 

Can you expand of this constitutional grounds for not banning?  Is the "pursuit of happiness" part?

Now, I do want your opinion on the approach here.  In the OP, it says gay marriage has been banned in 42 states.  To me this is an utter failure to the activist approach.  What would have been a better way to go about this?

I used it because that is how I felt when I heard Gavin Newsom's speech back when the gay marriage debate started up.

It maybe over used now, but I still feel that way.
