It has been awhile since I have agreed with you Mr. Gonzales, but today I do.
Alberto Gonzales Calls Obama's Immigration Move "Political"
by Ashley Alderman | June 16, 2012
Reacting publicly for the first time, former Attorney General Alberto Gonzales is criticizing the timing of President Barack Obama's new immigration policy announcement. Gonzalez, the first Latino attorney general, calls the policy move both "political" and "well short of what we need as a country."
The policy shift, announced yesterday, will allow some children of illegal immigrants to stay in the United States if they meet certain requirements.
Gonzales, who is an outspoken advocate of immigration reform, said he has a problem with the move both substantively and procedurally. Substantively, he says it fails to deal with securing the border, visa over-stayers, enforcing tougher work place enforcement, and the millions of adults that came into the country illegally as adults.
Procedurally, Gonzales says it's bad timing because it's being done during what he calls "political silly season". "Rightly or wrongly, it is viewed as political, given the fact that we're in a election season, and this is something that he could have done, certainly, well before now," he said.
Gonzales is empathetic to illegal children who have grown up in the United State and argues, there are things that should be done in conjunction to reassure everyone that not only are we a compassionate nation in taking care of these kids, but we're a nation of laws, and that we enforce our laws.
But, like many critics, Gonzales insists the President's fix is temporary and will prevent much needed comprehensive reform from being passed through Congress. He feels the way the President has gone about immigration reform subjects him to criticism as the executor in chief, "because by selectively failing to enforce the law faithfully he's not doing his job making sure all laws are faithfully executed."

I support some type of program for young people who were brought here as small children but I fully agree with him as well.
Of course it's political. This is the guy that's "all talk, no real action". Just as his "coming out" for gay marriage, does nothing to actually take any steps toward that end, his executive order for amnesty ends with the next president that chooses to end it.
It's a divide and conquer strategy, and it will work in his favor, to some degree. Although, because it's so obvious that it's a political play, I doubt very much if it will help him to the degree he is hoping for.
I expect before the elections, Obama will also TALK about legalizing marijuana too. Afterall, he needs to youth vote to turn out in a big way for him again.
First of all, our president and congress needs to follow the law.
There are two types of immigrants. Legal and illegal.
I'm a natural born American. Now if I drive 70 mph in a 50 mph zone and get caught, I'm going to get a ticket, pay a fine. That's because speeding is illegal. If I break the law here, there are consequences.
So why is it, that someone can come into my country illegally, and have no consequences, when I have consequences?
How is it that my president will protect a non-citizen but not protect me --from having a foreigner take my job, steal the public education I pay for, and otherwise enjoy all the benefits from the taxes I pay ?
It is the job of our federal government to protect us from all enemies foreign and domestic. While being here illegally is not itself a violent action , it is an action that causes harm to me financially because it causes an increase in my taxes - which affects my standard of living.
Illegal immigrants therefore, as a whole, are enemies of theAmerican people, collectively.
Yet our president, charged by the Constitution to defend us, does not.
Is that not Treason?????
I am less concerned with the president's political games and more concerned that he is attempting to break the law, right in front of our faces
and to legitimize his actions with putrid phony empathy for 'old grandmothers'.
There are millions of old grandmothers who were legally born here who are treated like poop trying to get their benefits to pay for nice nursing homes. What about them?
This sends a clear message: you be a good law -abiding citizen your whole life, and your gov't disrespects that

Give them English lessons, MAKE them learn our country's history, give them a social security number like everyone else, and take a test for citizenship.
If they refuse, deport them.
My son's father is an undocumented immigrant. He was brought here by his mother when he was 10 from Estonia. He is truly a piece of shit for a human being, but him and his family are in no way enemies of the United States. Step off that nonsense. People come here because they want a better life. So many come from places that are unimaginably horrible. I can't blame them for coming here if their homeland sucks. Seriously, don't say things like that. It's a blanket statement that is horrifically untrue.
Undocumented immigrants do suffer consequences. A lot of them.
They pay taxes. Sales taxes. Also, even if they have a fake SS number, the government still takes that money. They also pay payroll taxes. It may not be legit, but the government still takes money out of the checks they get.
As for those grandma comments, who do you think is taking care of grandma? Who are the CPA's? Who are the nurses aids? Who are the home care workers? A lot of the time they are undocumented immigrants doing a shit job for shit pay because no American in their right mind would work that job under those conditions for that kind of pay. Same with the agriculture.
As for Obama, he's a politician. He's a puppet. He'll do as he's told. I have no idea if it's treason. The Constitution stopped being relevant decades ago.

I used to tutor Asian immigrants in English. I have no idea if they were legally here or not. They knew more about American history than I did because it's covered in the history classes in their country (Vietnam). They also worked extremely hard to learn English. One girl even asked if she could put her hand on my chin because she wanted to feel how I moved my mouth. She wanted to learn the American accent. Every immigrant I have ever come across was extremely grateful to be here and worked their asses off.

I didn't realize that there was even a question that it was political.
He is drowning in a sea of quicksand of his own making, Between rounds of Golf, he has managed to put us into the worst debt in history, alienated his own base, with the highest unemployment in modern history, alienated his people by switching position of gay marriage, bailed out the union bosses, while throwing blue collar workers under the bus, with measures like the killing of the Keystone Pipeline.
He is a clueless, FPODS, luckily he is also such a political idiot, that none of this will work.
tick, tick, tick

Just some fun facts: I heard to day on the news that he played golf for Father's Day and that was his 100th time playing golf.
