OK before one more ignorant poster replies with some stupid liberal meme or calling Obama "my" saviour I want to clear up some things.

I am about as in the middle as someone can get.

My views:

Economy:  Stop spending so damn much, cut out unnecessary spending, go through the budget line by line.  And if for some reason that isn't enough to start getting this country out of debt then start raising taxes first on the uber rich and then down the line.  Cut out tax breaks and such on big business and the elite.  Put more money into national infastructure (and no not a speed train like Obama wants), parks and public areas.  Hire skilled workers to do the job, not a lowest bidder contractor.  Make the workers GS employees.  I am not an economist but hey, seems a bit better than what our government is doing right now, which is nothing.

Religion:  You have yours I have mine.  Neither one has been proven right so please take God off our money, out of the Pledge, and don't make "One nation under God" our motto because this country was founded on the principle of seperation of church and state.

Pro-life/Pro-choice:  I am Pro-Choice.  I am NOT Pro-abortion.  I believe that a woman should be given many options to choose from and should be guided by an unbias person who has her best interest in mind (not someone who will sit there and ask her what she thinks God wants or just gives abortion as an option).  With that, if she chooses abortion that is her business not mine.

Freedom of Speech:  Say what you want but when you say something stupid, racist or highly misinformed expect me to be here to call you out on it.  We don't always have to agree and many times you can learn a lot from disagreeing with someone.  So go ahead and spout off what you heard on some political talking head show last night, I may be inclined to disagree and will say so.

Guns:  Guns don't kill people, people kill people.  Regardless if we make guns illegal people will continue killing people and the ones who really want to make a fast job of it will get the guns illegally.  So keep them legal for those law abiding citizens like myself who respect guns and know how to use them.

International aid:  I believe that as the economy stands right now we need to take care of ourselves and focus on other countries later when ours is more stable.  No more money to Pakistan or any country that dislikes us.  End our Israel alliance and only aid countries who are in dire need of assistance due to political turmoil against the citizens of the country.  No more religious wars.  Get our troops our of Korea, Afghanistan and Iraq.

Womens rights:  I believe that womens rights are under constant fire from many on the Right.  It is apparent with the wording of current Personhood bills and reproductive rights bills.  Complacency will only guarantee that we will revert back to days when women had very few rights so I will continue to speak out against any slight against my rights.  Just because I have a uterus does not make me any less of a person.

My other views vary.  I did for Obama last year because I felt that McCain was simply another Bush and our country needed a change.  Before that I voted for Bush on his second term because I felt that he knew what was going on in this country and would be able to clear the path and make the way to fixing it.   As for this election season, since it is a Romney/Obama ticket I may vote for Obama but I am unsure and may decide not to vote this year since I don't agree with either side.

So all the  followers of the conservative way, stop posting stupid pictures and captions on liberals.  You don't know me and now with this post hopefully you will see that we are more multifaceted than you want to believe.

No room for moderates in this political atmosphere. Just a bunch of radials left and right. Their way or the highway!

I am honestly tired of arguing with these people and then getting made fun of in the process.  I try very hard to stick with the facts, my opinion and the topic without going towards name calling either in the post or with a signature.  I try to show some iota of respect and yet it seems that very little is given on this forum.

and before anyone says anything, out of frustration yes I have said some unkind things.  But holy hell people, you can only bash your head against the same wall so many times fore you flip the wall off and walk away.

Good luck!! My theory is that the Right has moved so far right that they have left the middle people behind. We don't have a place that we fit into. I would LOVE to see a viable 3rd party movement for us.

Great post. I enjoyed reading it and I agree in many ways. Especially with the religion. Get God out of the government.

My DH is a conservative Frenchman, which probably makes him a moderate American.

We get along.

There's a few that I ignore the existance of. I find that helps. What else can I do? Show up to their house and appeal to their humanity? Ha! No.

What a refreshing edit!

Really :)

That said, I am creating my own space for civil discourse, and I am not the only one, of course.  All are welcome.

Sorry bout that I did edit my original reply to explain where I was coming from better.

The only thing you can do is voice your opinion and ignore the nastiness. Some just can't help themselves.

If something or someone is bothering you I'd suggest contacting an admin of the group. They are actually very supportive and help a lot in difficult situations.

My debate philosophy in 4 words: fight clean and fair.  Otherwise, there's no point.
