Republicans Vote For Jobs! No, Wait, It Is Yet Another Repeal Obamacare Bill
Republicans Vote For Jobs! No, Wait, It Is Yet Another Repeal Obamacare Bill July 9, 2012 By Nathaniel Down
The Republicans are at it again. This week they are taking up a bill titled “Repeal of Obamacare Act.” Just as the title states, it would eliminate the Affordable Care Act, drop children off of their parents insurance, allow companies to drop patients who get sick, and increase the costs of insurance for all Americans.
One point in their favor this time, the bill is titled exactly as it is, rather than hidden inside of a fake Budget Resolution. This has not happened since the “Repealing the Job-Killing Health Care Law Act” in January. In what is expected to be a similar party-line vote, demonstrating impotence due to the lack of control in the Senate or the supermajority in the house to overcome the Presidents expected veto, this vote is purely symbolic in an attempt to sway their corporate masters that they have a voice.
But why this vote, why this measure? Simple; they have tied it to a budget allocation this time, allowing them, if they can get 51 votes in the Senate, to use the process of reconciliation to enable passage to Obama’s desk. They want to force his second veto to be against their measure, and of course they will rig it up like a Christmas tree with all kinds of provisions that will look good in their fall advertising, claiming he vetoed a measure to prevent the killing of kittens or some such nonsense.
What is sad is that this measure may actually work with a group of the electorate.
