Another Mitt-astrophe; $50K-A-Plate Fundraiser On Jewish Fasting Day
As you can see in the picture above, Mitt Romneyâs â foreign goodwill tour has hit yet another wall. Okay, so this oneâs actually the Wailing Wall, and Mitt is presumably using it to try and contact the planet Kolob, to ask god to maybe give him a break, once on this disastrous trip.
The Daily Mail, quartered in London (The kick-off point for Romneyâs charmless and offensive âCharm Offensiveâ), is reporting that the Romney campaign was forced to cancel a $50,000-a-plate fundraiser in Israel, because they scheduled it for today which is Tisha BâAv, a day of fasting.
It doesnât matter who you are, 50 grand is a lot of money for an empty plate.
Of course, if youâre the RNC and you have a lot of empty plates, what can you do?
Spin Baby, spinâŚFrom The Huffington Post:
Jonny Daniels, a leading Republican political strategist in Israel, told The Huffington Post that the campaign had been aware of the date of the holiday when it scheduled the fundraiser. The campaign thought it could hold the event in a way that would not offend, he said, but was taken by surprise at the ferocity of the public outcry over the timing.
âIt wasnât really a gaffe,â Daniels said. âThey knew what the day was, but they were looking for the correct time and circumstance to do it. Instead it ended up seeming like a big dinner, but thatâs not really what it is.â
âDonât worry, theyâre not going to not have a fundraiser,â he added. âTheyâll find a way around it maybe by having a breaking of the fast meal combined with a Romney fundraiser.â
Donât worry about us worrying, Jonny. We all know by now that the RNC and especially Mitt Romney, doesnât have any shame. We know youâll still get paid. Every time Romney or one of his stooges embarrasses the U.S. on the world stage, the more apparent it is that the only purpose of this âtourâ is to collect money from foreign power brokers, looking to âinvestâ in a Romney presidency.
