I think this is less a liberal thing than a jerk thing. The guy was way out of line. She is a cashier in a fast food joint. However, I am not sure that it was okay for his job to fire him. If he was not on company time or in a company vehicle, do they have the right to restrict his free speech? Don't get me wrong, he is totally a jerk, but he may have a lawsuit against his employer.
Zilla's Christ-like contrbution to CM. Again. *yawn*
I'm sure she's super interested in politics, and in investigating the differences between the different groups and bridg......
Oh, never mind. It's just zilla and another day that ends with a "y", which means "Why it's fun to get online and try to piss off someone of a different political bent because I'm that bored."
What's your problem, Jax...not getting enough attention at home again?
This isn't my post. Why are you bringing up my name? Kinda cowardly to do that without a direct quote. Typical passive aggressive behavior. tsk tsk
The creepy obsession some have with me.....oy. Channel your buddy. It's been at least 12 hours since the last brilliant waffle comment.

Very well said. I have been trying to muster up the words but, personally those who take that sort of intolerant stance I feel I can't reason with.
Quoting GaleJ:Veronica I do not agree with you in any way. Firstly if you would like to know the countries that have already, or are in the process of, establishing full marriage equality please look it up for yourself.
Secondly why do you get to decide what is right for other people? If you believe something to be, in some way, wrong, then DON'T DO IT. But you do not have the right to inflict that opinion/belief on anyone else and civil law should not reflect any one's particular religious beliefs.
As to children being "confused," I too worked in the classroom and in schools and I never saw any evidence of such confusion in any of the children I knew from homes with same sex couples. For that matter in our school it was pretty matter-of-fact and we honored all families, no matter the construct, and we had many different kinds of families in our school community.
You infer that I am not true, compassionate person of faith. You know nothing of my faith/beliefs nor of how I live my life. Furthermore I never said that my beliefs "were the best and ONLY way to believe" because that is exactly the point...I DON'T HAVE THE RIGHT TO DECIDE THAT FOR ANYONE BUT MYSELF! I only said that my faith community holds different beliefs than does yours.
Finally you end with another statement about God, and I say again that you may believe in any deity you choose but I do not have to share those beliefs and you do not have the right to expect any one else to do, so nor do you have the right to demand that civil law reflect your beliefs.
Quoting VeronicaTex:I would love to see statistics of this "full world equality" you are talking about.
Show me proof of what you are saying, please.
But even then, that does NOT make it right.
I do not appreciate you calling me callous about children and their feelings.
Having worked with children for 21 years in the classroom, I say from a teacher's perpective that this lifestyle must be very confusing to a child.
A same-sex marriage is not the same as two good friends living for whatever reason in the same household.
Platonic relationships? Maybe. but NOT likely.
As I have said before, when a person decides to go against the grain-in this case defying what God has set up for His people and made it very clear in the Bible same-sex relationships are wrong, parents who expose their children to this should be ready to deal with it.
You CANNOT expect the people who differ with you to CHANGE for you.
I am NOT by any means approving of any ugly, hateful language directed toward the children of same-sex parents who are married, npr to you, either.
At the same time, not every religious person will be using the same "hateful' tone of voice as you perceive it.
What is "hateful" to you is not necessarily hateful to a true compassionate person of faith.
We, as Christians are taught to "love the sinner, not the sin".
That will be important to keep in mind before you start hurling accusations around and set yourself, your faith, and your approval of same-sex marriage up as being the best and ONLY way to believe.
I also wish you to understand something very clear about all this: God has been here for eons, long before human beings decided to twist their world to suit themselves.
I find it appalling that people have turned their backs on God and are deluding themselves believing that this lifestyle is right and correct.
Veronica
Quoting GaleJ:You may believe as you wish but "the majority of the world" hardly frowns on same sex marriage. Most forward looking countries encourage marriage of all constructs because they realize the positives of marriage and many countries are passing laws to establish full marriage equality. As to defying "God" you again wish to project your personal religious beliefs on those of us who do not share them and expect civil law to follow suit. I do not share your beliefs and in my faith community we support all truth seekers and have been recognizing all couples who wish to publicly declare their love and join their lives, whether in marriage where legal or civil union or simply before our community for a very long time now just as we married those of mixed religious or racial unions before they were fully recognized. Furthermore I am appalled by your callous disregard for children and their feelings, surely as adults we can agree that they should not be targeted by such hateful language. Personally the same sex couples I know are just like the rest of us; trying to build a life, home, and family with love and that is admirable.
Quoting VeronicaTex:This is how I feel: When two people of the same sex decide to "marry" they'd better be prepared for their children to hear that the majority of the world frowns upon this type of union.
They can NEVER expect the world to cater to the choice their parents-these two males or females make.
Why should they?
This is a consequence of choosing to defy what God has set up for His people.
It will now be up to those parents to explain why they chose to go as far as to make the union a "marriage" to begin with.
The world of Christianity, I feel, should NOT take on the burden of the reactions from the people who oppose their stance.
Good for Mr. Cathy taking a stand.!!!!!!!!
Veronica
Quoting GaleJ:While I might not agree with his approach the man has the right to express how he feels and as an employee she must, as all of us who serve the public, be polite and listen. This kind of encounter is part of dealing with the public in general and should probably be expected to increase when the president of the corporation speaks out as he did.
For myself and my family not one penny or our family money will be spent at Chick-fil-A since they obviously don't support all families. Of course Mr. Cathy has a right to his religious beliefs and to express them but he has no right to expect or to ask that our country's civil laws reflect his religious beliefs. Furthermore while I support his right to express his beliefs I find the way he did so to be particularly offensive in that his statement was broadcast over and over and unfortunately the children of same sex couples had to hear his dire and hateful rant. He could have expressed his views just as forcefully without the "pulpit speak". While I know that some of this was within the context of a religious interview I do believe that Christianity preaches gentleness and love and think that those who approach such issues without the hateful rhetoric may garner more listeners willing to be open minded and hear what they have to say. In my opinion his approach is just as offensive as that of the members of the Westburo Baptist Church and frankly we don't need more of that kind of expression.
Does it actually matter what post I reply to, or what thread?
It's all the same - here's an act of one stupid person, and you (again) attempt to attribute those actions to a wide group, while ignoring everyone of that same group that states they don't condone those actions. "Liberals are bullies!" blah blah blah.
Same goes to the OP in this instance.
What this guy did was wrong. What the vandals who painted stuff on a CFA building did was wrong. It's all wrong.
And the term "creepy obsession" is over used and boring, oh person who remembers my hobbies and tries to insinuate she knows what's going on in my home.
