Insulting democrats means you don't want a dialogue you want a pissing contest

Apparently the answer is NO.

some things I like about it

Gives control on healthcare to the states rather than the federal hog. He wants subsidies phased into medicare rather than a huge mess like we have no.  It would give seniors a choice on what they feel they need as well as open up competition among private insurers.

It would eliminate loopholes and give a flat 10% and 25% tax rates.  The revenue would go up because the loopholes would be gone and billions of dollars would not be wat=sted in complying to the monstrous tax code.

I will end there for now and see if anyone else contributes.

Agreed. I sure hope some democrats can leave the liberal blogasphere long enough to join in . Could be a real interesting debate.

The plan, like all government plans is vague on where the cuts and reduced spending will be. I want my children to go to Harvard and Yale not Afghanistan and jail, and these are places that most funding is directed.

I want my kids to have a rewarding career from jobs that has been created in America.

I want the taxcuts to end for companies that have sent jobs overseas.

I want to know the elderly, disable, and the poor are not exploited when trying explain why the deficit is so high.

I want to know that when my retirement plan gets up to 50,000 dollars again that a economic crash is not gonna happen again and wipe more than half of it out. Jobs no longer offer the fringe benefits it once did, and they only seem to get worse, if you don't work for the government. And I would like them to refund mine and DH's medicare and social security that we have paid into for 20+ yrs so I can add that to my retirement account

I want my kids to live on a planet that has not turned into  a waste land of oil, fracking, mountain top removal, sludge in our rivers and streams to save a corporation a buck. We are the only industrialized country in the world that deliberately poisons its citizens and not give healthcare to protect them.

Giving the states the rights has not worked, or each state would of already done something about the problems it faces, from education, to health care, to senior citizens to poverty.

This storm has been waging on for well over 30 yrs, and there is way too many special interest groups and representatives who have stake in the federal government for anything reasonable to ever come fruition.

I want religion and religious views out of politics. They are to govern from the constitution not the bible. Everyone should have the same rights.

I want bankers held responsible when they fraud the American people, and their punishment should come out of their own pockets, not mine or any other taxpayer.

I know I am a Liberal, Socialist, Communist, Marxist and whatever other names people come up with when I give out my vision on how things should be. And I know that no political involved person, rather a democrat or republican I vote for is ever gonna bring real change. But when I vote for the liar in chief, I want it to come from good intentions.

There's a lot more, but right now I just seem like I'm rambling.

He takes from the poor and gives to the rich. This causes inequality and instability. An unequal and unstable society is not an ideal place for anyone, Rich or poor.

I doubt there will be any reform for the taxes and business practices. The rich don't like regulation or reforms. For that to change it'll have to come because we the people demand it.

All in all I believe he is a puppet of the elite and his ideas will not have a positive benefit on society as a whole, only those at the very top benefit from plans like this.

What would colleges have to do to their costs in order to compete, since they would no longer be able to pull as much money from the public till?

Competition as we know it does not really exist. Competition is not good for profits and those at the top know this. College today is more like creating indentured servants than creating bright minds to advance this nation.

There is an allusion to privatising parts of the government to reduce spending.  I can't be certain this is a good idea or not.  For example, though the Post Office is failing miserably, mail should be kept secure, and we should still have a right to privacy with our mail, which privatizing won't guarantee.  There has to be more thinking outside the box, with the PO example again, a stamp on a first class letter from NY to CA certainly doesn't cover the cost of delivery, and that's something privatized PO won't be able to fix either, except by raising snail mail costs drastically.

Don't get me started on privatizing part of the military -Haliburton is an evil corporation.  They still get paid through the government so its not really privatization.

A flat tax is no answer, it only goes to hurt the working poor and help the rich.

Putting medicare and other programs in the hands of the states will force a severe difference on how these programs are administered, the same with the dept of ed.  Some states simply have more money than other's and children and seniors should not be punished for that.

I honestly think he's blowing smoke up America's butt when he talks about closing corporate tax loopholes and restoring the rule of law while talking about free-market enterprise.

I do agree with his statement that Congress needs to stop balking and get on task on fixing the budget.

I'll read more of the plan later.

There are two tax brackets.

Quoting sweet-a-kins:

In the next 2 decades he wants to turn Medicare into a voucher program
, cut most domestic spending to almost nothing, cut millions in pell grants and increase defense spending

We spend far too much on defense spending already.

Cutting nearly all the safety nets would be fine if we had a 4% unemployment rate and less poverty amongst families with Children and the elderly.

Cutting education is killing Many peoples opurtunity to go to college
We need ways to send more people to college, not less. That will hurt America..

Fannie and Freddie gave many first time home buyers an opportunity ...I agree it needs to change, but it has value.

Most tax loopholes need to go, a flat tax ..no, I don't agree. 10% of $100,000 won't Hurt a families budget

%10 of 30,000 will

At least as relative to them.

In regards to the tax plan.  it isn't a flat tax.  It is flatter compared to what we currently have (which is seriously flawed).  But it isn't not a true flat tax plan.  It's still tiered. And it hasn't been determined wat the upper limits would be.  Most reports show it will be more like $70,000 not $100,000.  So, those are details we, as Americans should ask for clarification.  Not just speculate.  ryan's plan is not as complex as the current plan. Plus, Ryan's plan encourages small business growth.  With over half of US jobs derriving from small business, this is a good thing, don't you think?
