‘2016’ movie revealing Obama’s roots aims to rock presidential campaign

August 8, 2012 (LifeSiteNews.com) - A new movie due out for wide release this month is being advertised as a hard-hitting exposé of Barack Obama and his policy goals - and is already making waves in the countdown to November 2012.

2016, by famed conservative journalist Dinesh D’Souza together with Schindler’s List producer Gerald Molen, looks at both President Obama’s ideological roots from his childhood and youth, as well as his plan for America based on those underpinnings should he win a second term.

The new flick gave a hint of how it might resonate with audiences when it packed the single Texas theater that displayed a preview last month, grossing $32,000 in its opening weekend as moviegoers waited in lines for up to an hour and a half to meet the filmmakers, according to FOX News.

D’Souza told the Christian Post that moviegoers will learn just how much they didn’t know about the current president, and the extent of the radical anti-colonialist ideology D’Souza says is the real source of America’s staggering debt crisis. The film’s trailer pins Obama’s ideology on the legacy of his father, Barack Obama Sr., who resented the power wielded by America over the rest of the world: “Obama has a dream, a dream from his father: that the sins of colonialism be set right, and America be downsized.”

“Obama’s goal is to shrink America,” D’Souza told the Christian Post. “He wants to reduce America’s footprint in the world because he thinks we are stepping on the world.”

The movie is based on D’Souza’s two books, The Roots of Obama’s Rage (2010) and Obama’s America, which is due out this month. The title, he said, was chosen “because we want audiences to question what the implications are, and what the world would look like in 2016 if he is re-elected.”

The movie probes Obama’s relationships with Rev. Jeremiah Wright, Chicago domestic terrorist Bill Ayers, and Communist Party member Frank Marshall Davis, as well as other radical leaders in his past. “It is a real mystery how he managed to convince so many Americans to vote for him, and how some of his deepest beliefs have gone unscrutinized,” said D’Souza.

Although the election is not mentioned in the film except for in its final words, the journalist said the impact and timing of the film was inspired by none other than Farenheit 9/11 director Michael Moore.

“I feel embarrassed to say that because Michael Moore’s ‘Fahrenheit 9/11’ is an intellectual disaster, but nevertheless that film was about a controversial president and it was received at a time when one half of the country was for the president and one half was against him and it was dropped in the middle of an election,” he said. “So that gave me the idea to make a film under similar conditions – controversial president, one half of the country is for him, one half is against him, and drop it in the middle of this year’s debate.

“But I wanted to make and have made a very different kind of a film that is not fast with the facts and is intellectually and factually very sound. So far, no one has alleged the contrary.”

The movie, which has already opened in a handful of theaters, is due for release on over 400 screens throughout August.

2016: Obama's America
Synopsis

2016 Obama's America takes audiences on a gripping visual journey into the heart of the world’s most powerful office to reveal the struggle of whether one man's past will redefine America over the next four years. The film also answers the question, "If Obama is re-elected, where will we be in 2016?"

Across the globe and in America, people in 2008 hungered for a leader who would unite and lift us from economic turmoil and war. True to America’s ideals, they invested their hope in a new kind of president, Barack Obama. What they didn't know is that Obama is a man with a past, and in powerful ways that past defines him--who he is, how he thinks, and where he intends to take America and the world.Immersed in exotic locales across four continents, best selling author Dinesh D’Souza races against time to find answers to Obama’s past and reveal where America will be in 2016. During this journey he discovers how Hope and Change became radically misunderstood, and identifies new flashpoints for hot wars in mankind’s greatest struggle. The journey moves quickly over the arc of the old colonial empires, into America’s empire of liberty, and we see the unfolding realignment of nations and the shape of the global future.

Emotionally engaging, 2016 Obama’s America will make you confounded and cheer as you discover the mysteries and answers to your greatest aspirations and worst fears. Love him or hate him, you don’t know him.

Dinesh D'Souza's Lies About Obama, Now In Movie Form

May 27, 2012 1:17 PM EDT ››› OLIVER WILLIS

The marketing materials for the upcoming film 2016: Obama's America claim that it "takes audiences on a gripping visual journey into the heart of the world's most powerful office to reveal the struggle of whether one man's past will redefine America over the next four years." If the movie is anything like its source material, we can expect it will be a mostly fraudulent journey.

The movie is based on Dinesh D'Souza's book The Roots Of Obama's Rage, which received high praise from people like Glenn Beck and Rush Limbaugh, neither of whom have shown any qualms about promoting outright lies, distortions, and outlandish claims in the past.

The New York Times reports that the film is partially financed by billionaire investor Joe Ricketts, who previously considered financing a multimillion dollar political ad campaign linking the racially charged rhetoric of Rev. Jeremiah Wright to President Obama.

The central thesis of the book is that Obama has some sort of anti-colonial world view, handed down to him by his ancestors, that acts as the motivation behind his actions and policies as president. It is just another form of birtherism, albeit a more highbrow variety of the ongoing conservative conspiracy theory. Appearing on Beck's Fox show, D'Souza explained:

Obama is not anti-American in that he wishes ill on America. He wants what's best for America. He thinks it's really bad for us to be a colonial power. And therefore, in his view, he is doing right for America by pulling us out, by knocking us off our pedestal, by in a sense taking us from being the world's arrogant superpower. He wants us to share the wealth. He thinks he's gonna get a better America. The problem is, he's stuck in this theory, he's frozen in this time machine. In a sense, he's a captive of the ideology of a Luo tribesman from the 1950s. It's an incredible idea.

D'Souza boosts this ludicrous premise (Obama ran for the presidency because he hates colonialism ... just like America's founders!) using several claims that are simply not rooted in reality. A few examples:

D'Souza claims that TARP and the federal bailout were programs that "Obama launched." Both programs began under the Bush administration.

D'Souza claims Obama went by the name Barack to adopt his father's "African identity," but Obama has explicitly said his name change "was not some assertion of my African roots."

D'Souza insists that references in Obama speeches to a "nuclear-free world" are evidence of "anti-colonialism," but Ronald Reagan made multiple references to the same concept.

D'Souza claimed that Obama supported the release of the Lockerbie bomber because he sometimes "supports the release of terrorists who claim to be fighting wars of liberation against American aggression." But the Obama administration formally opposed the release in an official letter from the State Department.

D'Souza claimed that Obama referred to BP as "British Petroleum" in a May 2010 speech. He never did.

And D'Souza just goes on and on, inventing incidents that never happened, making historical claims that don't match up to the facts, shoehorning these made-up stories into a false narrative of racial resentment.

It doesn't appear that D'Souza has corrected or amended his flawed premise. 2016: Obama's America is just repeating the same falsehoods with moving pictures.

Don't speak for the rest of the people, Kissy.  There are plenty of Americans who indeed do care, including myself.  Your replies (3 sentences) lead me to believe that you did not read through this info, and have no curiousity about learning more about your president.  That's your choice, however, just don't go speaking for everyone else except for yourself.  Thanks.

It'll be a hit just like palins movie.

No one but conspiracy theorists buy into it.

Media Matters...no thx. About as credible as George Soros and the Socialist Party USA. The link you provided shimamab is as radical as Obama. Common sense 101. You are the company you keep! This is a partial list of Barack Obama's many radical associates during his life~

Obama's Close Friends & Associates

http://theobamafile.com/_associates/obamaassociates.htm

Barack Obama's Stealth Socialism

In his latest memoir he shares that he'd like to "recast" the welfare net that FDR and LBJ cast while rolling back what he derisively calls the "winner-take-all" market economy that Ronald Reagan reignited (with record gains in living standards for all).

Obama also talks about "restoring fairness to the economy," code for soaking the "rich" - a segment of society he fails to understand that includes mom-and-pop businesses filing individual tax returns.

It's clear from a close reading of his two books that he's a firm believer in class envy. He assumes the economy is a fixed pie, whereby the successful only get rich at the expense of the poor.

Following this discredited Marxist model, he believes government must step in and redistribute pieces of the pie. That requires massive transfers of wealth through government taxing and spending, a return to the entitlement days of old.

Of course, Obama is too smart to try to smuggle such hoary collectivist garbage through the front door. He's disguising the wealth transfers as "investments" - "to make America more competitive," he says, or "that give us a fighting chance," whatever that means.

The seeds of his far-left ideology were planted in his formative years as a teenager in Hawaii - and they were far more radical than any biography or profile in the media has portrayed.

A careful reading of Obama's first memoir, "Dreams From My Father," reveals that his childhood mentor up to age 18 - a man he cryptically refers to as "Frank" - was none other than the late communist Frank Marshall Davis, who fled Chicago after the FBI and Congress opened investigations into his "subversive," "un-American activities."

As Obama was preparing to head off to college, he sat at Davis' feet in his Waikiki bungalow for nightly bull sessions. Davis plied his impressionable guest with liberal doses of whiskey and advice, including: Never trust the white establishment.

"They'll train you so good," he said, "you'll start believing what they tell you about equal opportunity and the American way and all that sh**."

The only reason that is being written in rebuttal is because Obama and his administration and supporters do NOT want the truth to come out - they want Americans to think it's all a lie.  There's been too many lies going on for way too long.  I hope voters will honestly do research, as well as comparison of this movie, with the research, and figure out for themselves, that this movie does tell the real story, and ones like Oliver Willis need to quit covering up the truth, especially when they know it's truth.  I wonder what kind of payback he gets out of writing that?

That can cause major side effects when someone isn't thoroughly studying and researching people running for offices.  It will be a sad day if he gets back in and then shows his absolute true self, and starts imposing his changes on everyone.  Then it will be too late and some will regret not checking things out ahead of time.  This is very important with this election and everyone should be involved, questioning, challenging, studying, researching, attending, etc., in order to be ready for this election with these candidates.
