The part of me that grew up in a republican household wants to say, yes, lame excuse.

As far as obama or anyone blaming bush, yeah, that's pretty lame. Be a leader, then, and change it. (Hmm..change...)

On the other hand, there are things we never seem to publically talk about in this country, at least not too much.

The biggest reason bush is at fault for this country's state of affairs at this very point in time has much to do with his actions, affiliations, and reactions to major crisis taking place during his terms of office. One would be the signing of the Patriot Act that was essential to reducing the liberties of the average American.

He really wrinkled the Constitution, I'd say.

And, he exploited some pretty huge tragedies as the pretext for doing this.

The current guy, extended and strengthed the PA, added drones over American cities and killed American citizens without due process.

Bush make him do any of that?

How many people are you under the assumption that they "tortured"?

Quoting buttersworth:

Of all the people kept imprisoned for "massacreing" Americans, how many were actually proven guilty???

They tortured innocent people.

Can you prove they did not?

Quoting Lunarprancer:

Quoting buttersworth:
"torture" of persons who massacred Americans? Ugh, you seem reasonable, but that few sentences kills me. Edit, those few...

Other than Ron Paul has told you to believe that, what benefit does printing our own money bring us, that would fix things, overnight or otherwise?

Quoting buttersworth:

We could be fixed practically overnight if we just started printing our own money again, instead of paying the Federal Reserve Bank to do it, and them printing money out of thin air.

Oh yeah, and stop bailing out the too-big-to-fails.

And another - repeal the amendment that says we have to pay income tax.

There. That should do it.

Quoting themissheather:

It takes years for the full effect of new policies to be understood. Obama may or may not be in office when his healthcare bill goes into effect. The consequences of that, be them good or bad, won't be realized for some time. The same idea applies to Bush's wars and tax cuts. This country is too big to be fixed overnight.

Obama campaigned on it being the worst econommy since the great depression (a contention which was patently false) so he knew what the economic situation was.  The reaons he has to continue to blame Bush is to avoid accepting responsibility that his failure to improve matters is due to one of two reasons:

  1. his absolute incompetence concerning economic matters
  2. he never intended on improving the economy

They are not as far apart as you want to think. Both are progressives. Look how many of Bush' programs Obama has adopted and strengthened. If you don't like Bush but like Obama, then you are a hypocrite.
Quoting themissheather:

While I think that many of the economic problems the US is facing currently are Bush's fault, I agree with you that blaming the predecessor can't be the only response. I think that Bush was to one extreme and Obama is to the other, so the middle ground is hard to find.

Granted, however, he/they are offering nothing other than its their fault.

I find it ironic that we are even fighting over who's fault it is:/  Every one of them has done everything to mess this country up and we keep voting one or the other back in.  Kinda like what Clinton said--- " We left a big mess, you are not fixing it fast enough, so put us back in" a complete contradiction of common sense:/

I can't believe I am saying this, but I agree with you:/ He has done alot of Bushlike things and extended policies that were around with Bush.  That is why I do not understand you guys side of hating him so much, when he has done so much Bushlike things?
