How do you feel about the fact, that Romney got caught on tape, saying that 47% of us, don't want to work, want the government to take care of us. He said we think we are victims. The 47% won't take responsibility for our own lives. He is talking about most of us on cafemom, unless you are rich. How do you feel about what he said, and do you think it will hurt him on election day?

The difference is with Romney there is proof and he admitted that he meant it.

Quoting motherslove82:

No, but I'm not sure that Obama hasn't done that with the other 53%. He just isn't on tape saying it.

Quoting Citygirlk:

Im not talking about obama but if you want to go there yes his speech was taken out of context.

Now for what romney said there was no spin, no twisting of words,no sound bites, nothing like that. He said something stupid got caught on video and didnt deny it. He wrote off 47% of america saying he doesnt care about them.
Now tell me, do you want your president to be someone who would just cast off 47% of this great nation?

Quoting motherslove82:

The difference is that Obama was giving a speech, and Romney was having a conversation that was accidentally recorded and played. He probably would have said it more "elegantly" if he'd been giving a speech to millions. So again, it's out of context when it's Obama and Fact when it's  Romney.

Quoting Citygirlk:

Umm the whole thing is out there in context and romney isnt denying any of it. He actually said that he shouldnt have said what he said that way, that he should of said it more "elegantly".

Quoting motherslove82:

I think it's  funny that when Obama gets caught on tape or says something, it's all context and editing. When Romney does it, It's fact. I don't know what he said  or what he meant. Neither do most people, I would guess.

If actions speak louder than words, there is proof that none of them really give a crap about any of us.

Quoting DixieL:

I think what he said is disgusting. I don't believe he has any right to be a president of 53% of Americans and not give a dam about the rest of us.

He did not say he did not care about the well-being of those in the 47%.  The most we can tell from the incomplete audio is that Romney said he would not worry about getting their vote.  But look at Romney's policies, and he does address issues concerning all Americans: improving healthcare laws, education, worker re-training, immigration, energy policy so we can rebuild a manufacturing base, better fiscal policy so that millions of Americans won't suffer from the effects of bad policy like inflation, or shrinking value of worker retirement accounts.

The most pressing social issue today is the economy

I have copied the truth of his statement....

"There are people who will vote for the president no matter what. Who are dependent upon government, who believe that they are victims, who believe the government has a responsibility to care for them, who believe that they are entitled to health care, to food, to housing, to you-name-it -- that that's an entitlement. And the government should give it to them. And they will vote for this president no matter what. I'll never convince them they should take personal responsibility and care for their lives."

You think this is 47% of America? Do you realize 9 out of the 10 states that receive the most government assistance are red states.  Your theory is wrong.  Do you think 47% of Americans are this way?

Yeah, but Romney did, so where is the truth in his statement that is so hard to hear?  Your answer didn't cut it. So I'm asking you what percent of people feel that way and will only vote for Obama? Romney said 47% where is the truth's?

My answer didn't cut it? LOL!! Or is it just too hard for you to comprehend? Did I add words that are too big for you to read?

I am sorry. I don't know what percentage will vote for Obama. However, I do agree that there are people that feel that they are entitled and those people will vote for Obama.
