Curious-Question for Conservatives About the News

Posted by   + Show Post

So, many of you make it clear that you consider most news sources unfairly biased.  I'm curious--which news sources do you consider fair and unbiased (or least biased)?

I don't think there is any "balanced" reporting that I've seen from any one station.  Even PBS seems biased.  I will say that I've never seen so many media outlets pine over a President like they do over Obama in my life.  You would think he cured cancer or was Elvis reincarnated.  They portray him in imagery as a savior or a King with a white or golden glow, and praise his pandering to the Hollywood soapbox egos.  No one seems to care that he shut out C-Span from the health care debate after promising to be the most tranparent administration in history.  No one seems to care that he's circumvented congress with executive fiat against the will of the people, or that he's fired CEO's of Companies he didn't own, and took over two of the largest private industries (auto and healthcare) to increase the government footprint of control.  No one cares about the increased domestic spying under Obama when it was such a huge deal under Bush, and the impending takeover of the internet and digital communications which he is aggressively pushing for through the FCC.  He bows to leaders that wish to wipe us off the map, and a good portion of the public adores him.  I just don't get it.  I think he and his entire socialism loving administration is dangerous.

I am not a conservative, but as long as news is for profit, it can not possibly be unbiased. The only honest, unbiased news media in this country is on PBS.

I'm not sure there are really non biased news because all news needs money so it can run. I think when we read the news we should think to ourselves from who point was covered  or written for and from whom? Pull all those things into prospective and you have a real idea of what is going on.

You obviously aren't old enough to remember how Reagan was treated like a living God on Earth.

That's your POV. Mine is that I've never seen so many right leaning media sources bash a President as much as this one. Everything he does, right from the beginning, has been suspect or tainted.

I watch all the different stations that I can, including C-span, and I read from different news groups and blogs.  I also read Huggington Post online, just to hear what people are saying around the country.  Sometimes, I can't help myself and I post a response, even though I know it is a liberal group and they don't care what I think.  I think its good to gather all the info you can and then decide for yourself.

Even though I don't agree with most news reporters, I like to know who they are, and see where all the hate and drama comes from.  Afterall, they are selling their products - NEWS.  If they can get you stirred up enough, you will come back for more of the same.

Yes, FOX does have a lot of balance whether some believe it or not.  I've seen several reporters from liberal stations doing segments on FOX as guests.  Some hard left wingers, just hear the word FOX and start screaming like a banshee.  FOX doesn't pull any punches or sugar coat what they report.  They aren't afraid to say so, when something stinks.

Fox news is not news in your opinion, because they don't say what you want to hear.  To say they are not news, is just wishful thinking on your part.

Even the original source can be biased.  That's why it is good to have a variety of reporters and eye witnesses telling the same story.

Quoting jaxTheMomm:

I don't think you can ever consider just one news source.

Quite often they will all pick up one thing from a wire and run with it, and you have to find the original source to determine what's actually going on and that can take some time!

Fox news is not news.

What I want to hear is the truth, whether or not I like it.

Fox has a really, really bad history with misinformation.  They are incredibly biased and I don't like biased news.  I don't depend on anything that's so heavily biased, regardless of where they lean.

The few times I've tried to watch Fox (not my local Fox affiliate, which is fine - I'm talking about their cable news) it's fucking laughable.  It's as if they are trying to lead you down a very specific path like a dog that needs a few cues, and I don't work that way. I really apologize if that sounds insulting, but that's what I've seen and experienced

What I do, is rely on a number of sources, and google the heck out of anything I think sounds off in search of the original "source" kernel of what everybody else has picked up.  It's very time consuming and I can't always do it, but I do try.

Fox news isn't news.  That's not wishful thinking - that's watching it, and knowing who Rupert Murdoch is.
