Uh no.

Because I find it depressing when humans can't just take something for what it is.  This was meant to be more kitschy than real, more cute than partisan.  I'm sorry if some of you were unable to comprehend that.

Lack of comprehension seems to be in your corner. I appreciate a lil' humor myself but I am concerned about the failing economy, high unemployment, rising gas prices, escalating food prices, weak foreign policy of this admin attributed to Barack Obama and his liberal progressive policies. I realize some of you believe this is 'funny', non-threatening but many Americans do not share your sentiments. We recognize the seriousness of our times and the changes needed to recover from the enormous political and moral damage Obama is doing to America. The recent events in Benghazi remind us of the irresponsible liberal policies of this admin, denial of reality, Obama's own words claiming Al-Qaeda are on their way out. He completely fails to fully understand the real dangers America is facing, the world we live in and the policies needed to deter the terrorists. Spending time with the rich n' famous { Letterman, Beyonce, Jay-Z, ladies on the View, the Hollywood elite } are more important to Obama following the death of 4 brave Americans. The incompentency of Barack Obama is apparent daily~

toddler tantrum BOO HOO!

We all know Libs hate little things like facts.

Facts are important when they support their side......

Quoting Kmary:

Congratulations.  You've managed to take something tongue in cheek, cute and fun and make it overly dramatic and partisan.   We knew you could do it.

Liberalism, Socialism, Communism: Links in the chains of Slavery!

Our Founding Fathers, being keenly attuned to the goal of personal freedom, accurately analyzed the manner in which freedom was so trampled by the political systems from which they had fled in Europe. Their genius was the recognition that tyranny must be expected from unfettered governmental power. How wise they were, to separate our government into three branches, such that each could keep an eye on the other two.

The Liberals, those who advocate a "nanny government", are not in tune with the American people whose mind-set is oriented toward freedom. As one who has lived in a country with a totalitarian police state, where freedom is not even considered except as part of a lie, (the lie being that freedom means to live under their system) this writer knows some parallels between the totalitarian police state and our American Liberals and/or Socialists.

  1. They both claim that the government is the solution.
  2.

  3. They both assume the people are too stupid to take care of themselves.

  4. They both assume that they, the elite, are somehow superior, and thus, have the right to rule.

  5. They both are afraid of the people; so much so, that they try to eliminate free speech. (The police state does so by forbidding assembly; the U.S. Liberals do so by such devices as "political correctness".)

  6. They both fear an armed citizenry. The totalitarians, since they have the power, simply forbid it, while the American Liberals use all their propaganda machinery to make it appear that the right to bear arms is Neanderthal, and is not connected to the issue of freedom of the citizenry. (Would an emperor want his peasants armed?)

  7. They both spring from the secular humanist philosophy which dictates that freedom is a gift from the state, as opposed to the thinking of our Founding Fathers, who recognized that freedom is God-given, thus the state must be suspected and prevented from taking the people's God given freedom. Genius!

Liberalism is a kissing-cousin to Socialism, as Socialism is to Communism...

Many of the younger generation do not realize what they think is liberalsim is not.

"Liberal" comes from the Latin adjective "liberalis" which means "Of or pertaining to freedom".

Liberalism, as a philosophical philosophy, developed during the Age of Enlightenment, as a contrast to monarchy and societies where not everyone was equal because there were nobles at one end  (with additional rights) and slaves at the other end (with fewer rights).

Liberal democracy is the form of government in which representative democracy operates under the principles of liberalism. It is characterized by fair, free, and competitive elections between multiple distinct political parties, a separation of powers into different branches of government, the rule of law in everyday life as part of an open society, and the protection of human rights and civil liberties for all persons. To define the system in practice, liberal democracies often draw upon a constitution, either formally written or uncodified, to delineate the powers of government and enshrine the social contract.   Liberals support capitalism (not necessarily Laissez-faire capitalism, but at least some private ownership of the means of production and the creation of goods or services for profit), and a free press.

Liberalism is the most successful political philosophy ever developed, and vast majority of the Earth's most successful countries are liberal.   They include: Australia, Brazil, Canada, Denmark, Finland, Germany, India, Israel, Japan, South Korea, Mexico, Norway, Peru, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Britain and, yes, The United States of America.

So why the confusion?   Why do many now use "Liberal" as an insult?

The Liberal Mindset, of freedom and equality, is a broad one, with room for quite a bit of variance within its bounds.   There are two main strands:

I think the confusion in America is due to the right forgetting that they count as Liberals too, and leaving the word solely to refer to social liberals.

And there are a LOT of social liberals who will vote Republican if they are fiscally, rather than socially, conservative.

Unfortunately, parts of American culture have become programmed by what they read, see and hear from bad journalism that there is a cultural war raging in this country between "liberals" and "conservatives." The Constitution is used as a weapon and is bastardized to suit political means.

In the end, the only ones who will win or be unaffected by this war are the true conservatives. Liberalism will die and we'll either be slaves/serfs to the system or a member of the aristocracy. I doubt very much that 99% of those calling themselves "conservatives" will be part of the latter.

"Sounds like a fun party:free people who read books, drink and have sex."

That's the problem with most liberals..ALL they want to do is parrrrrty.

Put down Karma Sutra, the bottle of wine, extract yourselves from the orgi and:

GET A JOB, contribute to society, and stop whining and trying to live off other people's HARD EARNED MONEY/TAXES.

Geez...

Conservatives like to amass money...what do you do with it, stuff it in your mattresses and sleep on it? Nah, you guys party, too; you just don't do it as well as we do it!

Here's the thing; Romney says the stupidest things such as that which he said at the dinner about the 47% but as a Mormon he can't drink so he doesn't even have the grape he imbibes while partying to blame for his tremendously bigoted and insensitive statements!

The difference is the conservative party on their OWN dime where as liberals party on OTHERS dime. If it weren't for cafemom TOS I would actually tell you what I think of you but since I can't type it here I will just let you come to your own conclusions.

I don't see this jealousy that you do. Do you think liberals are secretly envious of conservatives as well?

Liberal is not a dirty word; conservatives have attempted to turn it into one (and with some success).

Despite what some Cold War groupies say, it is also not synonymous with communism or socialism or crazy wild sex parties and drugs. It is a political philosophy based on the principles of liberty and equality.
