Politics ABC News scrambles to cover up Barack Obama’s attendance at VP debate moderator’s wedding

12:10 AM 10/10/2012

President Barack Obama was a guest at the 1991 wedding of ABC senior foreign correspondent and vice presidential debate moderator Martha Raddatz, The Daily Caller has learned. Obama and groom Julius Genachowski, whom Obama would later tap to head the Federal Communications Commission, were Harvard Law School classmates at the time and members of the Harvard Law Review.

After TheDC made preliminary inquiries Monday to confirm Obama’s attendance at the wedding, ABC leaked a pre-emptive statement to liberal-leaning news outlets including Politico and The Daily Beast Tuesday, revealing what may have been internal network pressure felt just days before Raddatz was scheduled to moderate the one and only vice-presidential debate Thursday night. Both Politico and The Daily Beast jumped to ABC and Raddatz’s defense. The Huffington Post, another liberal news outlet, joined them shortly thereafter, while calling “unusual” ABC’s attempt to kill the story before it gained wide circulation.

I don't think so......out of all the years that Biden has ran for office, he has NEVER lost a debate. That's from Joe Scarborough.

It's Biden's 19th debate and Ryan's 1st.

It doesn't matter if Obama kissed the moderator at her wedding 20 years ago which he didn't or we'd know.  If they'd been friends all these 20 years, we'd know.  Everyone in Washington and everyone who covers politics knows everyone else and has attended the same social events.  Jim Lehrer shook Barack Obama's hand and spoke to him only four years ago; no one said he shouldn't moderate the first debate.

Whoever moderates is most likely going to be a registered Republican or Democrat.  The point is whether or not they can suspend their personal political leanings and be professional during the debate, holding both candidates to the same standards.  I read Raddatz is a tough, persistent reporter who likes to scrap with newsmakers (sounds like my kind of woman).  She won't be one to be trifled with and I doubt either man will be able to talk over her or talk her down; she, like many women working primarily with men, will have a lot to prove..

If anything, Obama being at her wedding (which doesn't mean he even knew her all that well if at all; he apparently went to school with her husband...wives often don't like their husband's friends) is a good thing for Republicans because she will have to prove all the more that she doesn't favor Biden.  You Romniacs want her to feel that way.  ;)

13 hours and counting.
