Wtf? What are people thinking electing Obama 4 more years? Do people really want to be out of work, paying more for things and struggling? NICE. Now I know it is going to take my hubby longer to find a job because ALL the recruiters are telling him employers were waiting until after the elections. Now they will not be hiring not with BOZO in office. He hasnt been out of work in 15 years he has been working. Damn straight I blame Obama. We are all so screwed. I hope everyone is happy being a socialist country. This sure as hell isn't forward this is going over a cliff.

Sadly people here do speak up and let DSS know what's going on, we're all told there's nothing they can do.  I wasn't aware of a fraud hotline, I'll have to look into that and maybe we'll get somewhere next time.

Quoting lnrmom:

Well that is precisely what I have said. However... someone else (not you) said that those jobs (McD's, Wal-greens, etc) which are hiring BTW, cannot sustain you if you have a mortgage, etc. Which... I agree. But I'd rather draw back my lifestyle and live within my means than not accept a job.

If you find someone who is committing fraud, then speak up. Call the fraud unit and let them deal with them.

Yes, there are people who are "career" welfare recipients who live off the system and who have got comfortable at the bottom and intend to stay there. But to be honest with you, it is getting very difficult to do that. They have to go to classes, volunteer X number of hours, whatever.

Do you know how difficult it is to get TANF? When I lost my job several years ago I humbled myself to ask for assistance, but because I'm educated - I was finishing up my MBA when I lost my job, I could get a very low amount of food stamps, I was able to get medical help for my girls, but no cash assistance. You can't pay the rent with food stamps. That's why I started bartending. I kept the medical because I still qualified, but I dropped the food stamps because it wasn't worth it. I signed on with every temp agency in my city and found a long-term temp position. I ended up working three jobs to barely scrape by. Thank God I'm not still in that position, but I did what I had to do to make it.

I know people who work the system. They are out there. It happens. My daughters father does it and it pisses me off to no end. But we don't live in the same state so I can't do/say anything because I can't prove anything.

I'm not saying that the system isn't flawed. But here's the deal. If we don't speak up when we find instances of fraud, nothing is going to happen.

Quoting 4kidz916:

And it's situtations like hers that desperately need the govt assistance.  I don't think anyone here would dispute the fact that she needs and deserves help.  But there are a lot of able bodied people taking the help (some that just want a hand out and some that have no choice now because they can't feed their families otherwise).  My point is that the assistance should be there for those who need it but it shouldn't become a career for anyone that is able to work and can find a job.  Even working a fast food job (for those that are able--not talking about your SIL here--and taking a reduced amount of assistance is better than just giving up and living off the system.

Quoting lnrmom:

What does that have to do with the cost of tea in China?

Bartending is still a job. Period. And I've done my time at Subway and McD's, and would go back if I had to. But I don't.

You know who I think of when I think of government assistance? I think of my sister in law who is in the hospital RIGHT NOW battling Leukemia. She receives food stamps to feed her kids, lives in housing because that's all she can afford, and receives life saving medical insurance.

We need to keep the programs for people like her.

Have a blessed day.

Quoting 2Birds1Stone:

At any time, did you receive government help? For school, books, home, food stamps?

Bar tending? Hell yes bar-tending jobs are going to be available. Ever since BO entered in office 4 years ago, alcoholism has gone up 17% lol!!!

Bar-tending lol!! Far cry from Wal-Greens.

Chrysler was in trouble because they make shitty cars pure and simple not because of gas prices. Gas prices are high right now have you filled your tank lately?

Oh please. Your opinion on the cars does not equal fact.  The fact is that gas prices were high then and have gone no where but up since then.

PS. I don't own a vehicle. I use my two legs or spend 150 a month for bus fare.

Well if you don't drive a car nor fill up your gas tank your opinion is meaningless. Fact gas was 2 bucks a gallon when O took office now it has doubled.

Yes absolutely for people like your 'so-called' sister.

Again, were you ever assisted by the government while you went to school? Got help with books, food stamps etc?

Why are you so ashamed to answer? You so readily offer up your "sisters" personal info, why not your own?

The President does not determine spending.

The President does not legislate.

Congress, the folks with a 12% approval rating, are responsible for the balance-

1 mom liked this

DId you really think Romney was going to CREATE jobs?  At Bain Capital, the guy chopped up companies, laid off American workers and sent the jobs overseas.  That's where his fortune came from.  Expecting him to be the one to create jobs is like asking Hitler to save the jews.

Please, its not meaningless.  :D News flash, though I may take public transportation, they too, charge for extra.  Take taxi cabs for example.  When I would take taxis BEFORE Obama took office, I would have to pay an extra 2 bucks for each person in the car due to gas being so high.  That isn't the problem now, in my area. and LOL at you figuring that gas was that price everywhere. IT WASNT. It all depends on where you live and the cost of living in those areas.  Again, get real dude. lol

what are you talking about ? how could Obama take the jobs away . he does not own the factories or have any part of hiring men or women to work . the rich jerks are the ones that own the business and they control the issue of people and employment . like Romney he shut down places and put debt upon the company that was left . they had too much debt and had to declare bankfrupt and close the companjy down . he got money out of the company and sold the assets to the hightest dollar . he would have shut down America . not Obama .

Just read the news of a coal company firing more people.. it's really sad.  Maybe somehow more people need to join the unemployment or food stamp groups thanks to people who helped make this happen.  I expect more bad news will come.. .  the saddest part is that it will affect some of us who hoped to change to course too.  sigh..
