obama causes thousands of job layoffs

Posted by   + Show Post

Editor’s note: We’ll be discussing this story and all the day’s political news on our live BlazeCast at 1:30pm ET:

Do elections have consequences? If you have been paying attention to the financial markets, you might think so. Wall Street has had two horrible days since President Obama won a second term.

However, stock prices are not the only thing taking a hit. It appears that the job market is also suffering. In the last 48 hours, the following major corporations have announced layoffs in America (links take you to news stories about the layoffs – with details from the companies):

 Energizer -

The St. Louis-based company said Thursday that it expects to shed about 1,500 employees. When finished, the restructuring should lead to $200 million in pretax yearly savings, Energizer said. It aims to have most of its restructuring steps finished by the end of September 2014.

• Exide Technologies -

Exide Technologies announced Thursday that it will be idling its lead-recycling operations in Laureldale and laying off 150 workers, effective no later than March 31.

 Westinghouse -

Westinghouse Anniston, the contractor responsible for shutting down Anniston’s chemical weapons incinerator, has reduced its workforce by another 50 employees.

 Research in Motion Limited -

Research in Motion Ltd., the maker of BlackBerry smartphones, laid off about 200 people at its U.S. headquarters in Irving on Wednesday, according to a source close to the company who did not want to be named.

More than one dozen employees at a Pikeville company lost their jobs this week. Officials with Lightyear Network Solutions said they are consolidating offices in Louisville and Pikeville to save money.

And if they all fail and close.. Are you gonna support the employees and their families who loses job?

Quoting GailTravel:

President Obama did not cause these "Layoffs"  these Selfish, rich,  cheap millionaires are doing this so it does not cost them more for their slave like minimum wage/near minimum wage Workers  to make them richer.  How dare any human being deny health care and a decent living wage for another human being!!  I use to like  Papa John, Red Lobster and Olive Garden and some of the other companies. I won't patronage them!  I hope every single last one of them fail and go bust if they follow through with this.
There needs to be full fledge boycott of these businesses!!

Agree..very clearly and stated simple and precise. Unfortunately lots of people has entitlement mentality.. I deserve this.. Im entitled to this... Youre rich so you need to distribute your wealth to us.. The rich are greedy.. A lot of those rich people became succesful by working hard and using their talent and ingenuity. You want to be rich..then work hard and use your talent as well to find or start something profitable.or maybe u just want freebies... Has to be handed to you.

Three things have already happened that even you cannot deny.

1. The increased taxes and budget cuts have already been law. They are the Bush-era "tax cuts" that expire December 31. Taxes will increase for everyone that pays taxes - people and businesses. More so on businesses.

2. Obamacare is law. Some portions of the law have already gone "live", another portion goes "live" January 1st and the remaining go "live" in 2014. Health insurance companies raised rates to employers for 2013. Requirements under this law will raise operating costs for every business. Companies have had to guess at the amount of impact this law will have because the administration has refused to release definitions (such as what is a full time employee) until after the election.

3. Throughout the campaign and this week after the election, the President has repeatedly stated he WILL raise taxes on those earning $200,000 per year or greater. This includes businesses. This makes the administration anti-business. President Obama has guaranteed that corporations and "the rich" will "pay their fair share" under him. Fair share will be defined later.

Businesses have had a very tough time recovering from the recession. The economy has been flat this year. Many businesses ARE hanging on by thin, razor thin, margins. Companies put together two plans, two scenarios. What to do with labor force if either candidate had been elected. Romney vowed to extend the Bush tax cuts. Romney vowed to repeal the bulk of Obamacare. Both of these would have given businesses THE CONFIDENCE to move forward with plans to hire or expand. A business that KNOWS their costs will increase, their profit decrease, needs to act judiciously and expeditiously or they would be fiscally irresponsible. Obama being re-elected CAN be to blame for many companies announcing freezes, cuts or reductions because he has vowed to see these companies pay more.

If you seriously disagree with this, you seriously do not understand business, general economics or have listened to what the President has promised to do. I am NOT a Romney fanatic, but I can see where he was business-friendly and companies would have more confidence in the economy if he had been elected. More confidence equates to stimulated economy, not a stifled or smothered one.

BRAVO!!! This is the most intelligent post here explaining economics. Much better than I could have ever explained it.

They will. It seems as if the right nutters wish to incite hysteria.

Mike Opelka has or now had, an anti Obama site. He was also an obsessed Obama birther nut job. He's also been with fox( faux) news off & on for years, one of the most unreliable sources for reporting the truth. Anything Opelka says should be taken with a grain of salt, but I know a lot of you will hang on his every word as gospel. You just can't help yourself.

These companies are doing this to persuade congress to not tax the rich. Wow, you really have no clue as to what's going on.
