TORRINGTON, Conn. (WTNH) -- Police in Torrington are searching for a baby Jesus statue that was stolen from a nativity scene in Christmas Village.

Approximately three weeks ago, a Torrington Park & Recreation employee discovered that the baby Jesus statue was missing from the nativity scene.

After determining that it was not missing or stored in a different area, Park & Rec. reported the incident to police.

The statue is approximately 18 inches in length. The value and age of the figure is unknown.

There are no suspects at this time.

Anyone with information regarding the incident is asked to contact the Torrington Police Department at 860-489-2007 or Detective Todd Fador at 860-489-2059.

Park & Recreation Superintendent Brett Simmons is also looking for any donations and/or a figure to replace the stolen Baby Jesus. Simmons can be contacted at 860-489-2274.

Unfortunately, this isn't the first time and unfortunately, it won't be the last.   I remember a couple years ago when the baby Jesus was taken. The thieves must have gained a conscience afterwards, though.  Because they later RETURNED Him!

Hey, at least they didn't leave the manger empty!

Quoting ashellbell:

Hahahahaha! I wish.

Quoting shannonnigans:

Did they leave it up with Mr. Potato Head in his place?

Quoting ashellbell:

Probably some punk ass kid. My parents put a nativity scene in their yard a few years ago and someone stole baby Jesus and replaced him with a Mr. Potato head.

Please.  A bunch of teenagers did this.  It happens all the time, every year around here.  Heck, they kind of bolt the figures down on the church with a big nativity scene in our area.  Every time I pass a nativity scene, I remember when I was a kid in my grandmother's church, and pastor hollering, "Somebody done stole the baby Jesus!!"

Whoever stole the baby Jesus, I hope they are respectful toward the image and not using the statue for sacrilegious purposes.

What the hell is wrong with people today? Out-freaking-rageous!

Christians have to be tolerant and accepting of other seasonal holidays and the observances of them or not observing any holiday at all.

Why can't they just leave our Nativity scenes alone?

 Glad you're amused.

Wouldn't want you......outraged.

That's the problem with liberals, they don't really care about anyone other than themselves.

Happy Holidays

They're likely not doing it because its nativity scene per se, or because they are anti-Christian. Are you really that paranoid? Same thing happens on Halloween, and I felt ten times worse when a pumpkin I spent hours working on was kicked in. The fact is you can go get another baby figurine. It doesn't even have to say Jesus on the package - as long as the baby is the same scale as the rest of the figurines (don't want a 50 foot Jesus), it will work fine.

Like what do you mean? Like how everyone's older brother had their GI Joe go porno on Barbie? It's a small baby, I doubt it has the same appeal.
