My holiday post: Yule is Friday

Winter Solstice is this Friday.  So I thought I would start by saying a Pagan Prayer to the Earth.

With the tragedy in Connecticut and even our "end of the world" doom on Friday (no I am not one of those who believes that will happen) this is a good time to reflect.  Reflect on the belief that while the earth may lie cold and dormant in most places that beneath the surface new life will grow and spring forth in the coming months.  It is the cycle of life; birth, death and rebirth.

For those who are mourning the loss of their children and family members in Connecticut and for those who have lost loved ones this year, may the god and goddess bless you and keep you.

A Yule Prayer to the Earth

Cold and dormant our Mother Earth sleeps,

As snow falls and blankets her in white.

We come this time of year to pay respect to those she now keeps

As we place a candle on our tree, each single tiny light.

Each one represents those we have loved and lost,

We keep them in our prayers as we await the returning sun,

Which brings forth new life from under the snow, ice and frost.

We pray to you Mother Earth, for peace and understanding,

That in this cycle of life we are not lost

But instead reborn anew.

As is above, so is below.

Blessed be.

That is nice. Is it a traditional prayer or did you write it? What is the appropriate greeting to say to someone who celebrates Yule?

I wrote it.

An appropriate greeting is usually Merry Meet or simply Happy Solstice :)

Thank you for the reply btw :)
