CHRIS STEVENS WAS NOT EVEN REMEMBERED

In his State of the Union address, President Barack Obama failed to mention the late Ambassador Christopher Stevens and the three other Americans who died on Sep. 11, 2012 in the terror attack on the U.S. consulate in Benghazi.

He mentioned the victims of the massacre in Newtown, CT in December, and invited the families of victims of other violent gun crimes to watch from the gallery. But the Benghazi victims' families were not present at all.

Instead of offering even the slightest word of tribute for the fallen, for Chris Stevens's amazing career or for the bravery of the diplomatic and security personnel who fought the enemy alone for several hours, President Obama boasted of his administration's success in the fight against Al Qaeda:

Today, the organization that attacked us on 9/11 is a shadow of its former self. Different al Qaeda affiliates and extremist groups have emerged – from the Arabian Peninsula to Africa. The threat these groups pose is evolving. But to meet this threat, we don’t need to send tens of thousands of our sons and daughters abroad, or occupy other nations.

Perhaps we don't need to send "tens of thousands" abroad--though I would argue that Obama's current policy of weakness ("leading from behind") will make it inevitable that Americans will have to cross the oceans again in large numbers to defend our freedom. But Benghazi was about a few courageous Americans, carrying out the nation's mission in a strange and isolated place that the administration was woefully reluctant to defend.

It is appalling to know that American heroes would give all for their country and would simply be ignored, out of apparent political expedience. "What difference does it make?" former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton yelled, and it certainly appears to have made little for the President, who did nothing to save the lives of those he sent into danger but seems to feel no remorse as long as the media does not demand answers.

Obama's Democrats shed appropriate tears for the children of Sandy Hook. But where were the tears for "gun violence" abroad as well as at home? for the children left fatherless by a terror attack Obama wanted to hide?

I blame the Republicans, as well. Their Democratic colleagues arrives at the State of the Union address sporting green ribbons to show their solidarity with victims of gun violence. Where were the black ribbons on the chests of those Republican legislators? Where was the solidarity with the fallen in Benghazi? Did they think about the dead when they slapped each other on the back and exchanged grateful handshakes with their rivals?

Who knew Chris Stevens would be forgotten so quickly by the nation he loved and served so dearly?

Why would he mention Chris Stevens?  Sarcasm, here.....They don't want to remind the country of their ineptitude, lies and the cover up of the whole thing.  After all, what they were doing, running guns through Turkey to Syrian rebels, is against the law.

I thought for sure Chris Stevens would have been memorialized in the State of the Union address. But no. With that non-mention, and the 44 times Obama referred to himself - it seems this administration truly has forgotten him.

Not only was his murder "embarrassing" to the administration, but they played games with Congress and the American people for 5 months, and still have not give us the info we need.

This is a disgrace.

I agree. Sadly, Chris Stevens and the 3 Americans are a festering wound in Barry's presidency. They deserve more. WAY more. Than some rhetoric bull shit about how we've crippled Al Qaeda..idk anyone who believed that load of horse hockey. I certainly didn't, and to hear him say it, made me throw up in my mouth.

And if he did say something you would all be on here saying he was using him for his own purposes.  Take your hate blinders off ladies.

Who are you?

You are the hater, dear - can't even honor a DEMOCRATIC ambassador who gave his life for his country. Funny - Republicans honor him more than his own party does.

Why is that? Is his life worth nothing to you and your buddies? Out of sight, out of mind? Or was the timing of his murder - in the middle of an election - the real problem?

That is really sad.

Who am I?  I'm an American.  Both Obama and Clinton have multiple times spoke about what a loss he was.  Do they have to bring him up in every speech?  What's the timeline here?  Is bringing him up in every speech for 6 mths what you have in mind or is that too much?  At what point are you ok with talking about the billion other issues we are dealing with?  If he did say something about him you would have freaked out over something else.  It's what you do.  Over and over again.  It's annoying, exhausting and embarrassing.

I think highly of ANY American who chooses to jeopardize his/her life in highly volatile foreign countries. I grew up military and I know first hand that everyone who goes into these situations is aware of the possibilities. Stevens is not the first and he won't be the last. Please read below and perhaps you'll put this in proper context.

On August 7, 1998, TWO American embassies were attacked. Hundreds and hundres of people died. The date was purposeful. It was the 8th anniversary date of the arrival of American forces in Saudi Arabia. No memorials for any of them.

On October 12, 2000, the USS Cole, while refueling in a war free zone, was bombed. We lost 17 sailors and 39 more were injured.  The suicide bombers were PROUD and bin Laden was disappointed the US didn't respond more harshly. Al-Qaeda WANTED a fight.  When Bush took office, daily briefs starting coming in regarding bin Laden. He ignored them, DESPITE the attack on the USS Cole. He also verbally attacked the CIA agent who showed up in August of 2001 at his home in Texas. The agent, in fact the entire counter terrorism unit was in a panic. The daily reports were detailed. The attack would be on American soil and there would be mass casualties. HE IGNORED THEM ALL.

And along came 9/11/01.  Bush's response? It was Saddam Hussein's fault and Hussein and binLaden were plotting together. And those WMD's HAD to be taken out of Iraq. It was later exposed that Bush 2 had planned the invasion of Iraq before he was elected president.

Bush LIED to Congress. Condi Rice, Cheney and Rumsfeld lied.  FACTS: Hussein and binLaden HATED each other. There were NEVER any WMD'S in Iraq. It was a perverted, disgusting excuse for Bush to invade, murder thousands of civilians and grab that almighty oil supply.  We've lost thousands of troops, innocent people died for nothing. Bush 2, Cheney and Rumsfeld have been tried in absentia and found guilty of war crimes by the Kuala, Lumpur courts. The UN and dozens of other organizations condemned America's attacks on various nations from the get-go. Switzerland and Germany also want those 3 on trial.. The EXECUTIVE BRANCH, the president, is responsible for war crimes committed by our troops. Bush & Co. can still be tried and convicted in this country and should be.AID is often code for INVADE.

Benghazi was a whitewash job. The CIA and FBI were well aware things were bad and did WHAT? INTEL didn't tell anyone the truth.   There's now an ebook available that spills the truth. The problem in America today is that those who tell the truth go to prison for it. An ex-CIA agent was just sentenced to 30 months in prison FOR TELLING THE TRUTH.

My point is this: THOUSANDS OF DEATHS have been ignored. Women and children who did NOTHING except be in the country we were busy raping and pillaging. Look up the history of the US & war crimes.   At least Stevens and others KNEW they were in a precarious position.

Defintely memorialize Stevens along with those who died and were maimed on the USS Cole, the innocent people who died on 9/11 and the slaughter of thousands in Iraq and other countries. At the same time, pay tribute to those wrongfully punished for being honest and telling Americans what the rest of the world already knows.

RIGHT AFTER BUSH AND FRIENDS ARE TRIED, CONVICTED AND IMPRISONED. And every single American should be OUTRAGED that all these people died for nothing.

The memorials shouldn't be part of the SOTU, but stand alone. They deserve that.
