Elisabeth Hasselbeck is being fired from ABCâs âThe Viewâ because market researchers found that her conservative views were out of touch with the showâs audience, according to a report in Us Weekly.
The magazine, citing unnamed sources, reported Friday that Hasselbeck will be leaving the show along with Joy Behar, an outspoken far-left liberal who quit the show by choice.
âThe viewers they polled all said she was too extreme and right-wing,â a show insider whose name was not reported told UsMagazine.com about Hasselbeck Friday. âPeople did not watch the show because of Elisabeth. So they told her yesterday her contract would not be renewed.â
TV Newser later reported similar developments. The site referenced two separate sources that confirmed the conservative co-host was leaving âThe View.â A spokesman for the ABC show told TV Newser that Hasselbeck has a âlong-term contract.â
âIf Hasselbeckâs conservatism is a problem with audiences, it would appear to be a relatively new one; she has been on the show for nearly ten years with no apparent fuss,â the Huffington Post notes.
So, that leaves the show with Barbara Walters, Whoopi Goldberg and Sherri Shepherd â not exactly a group with diverse political ideology. It should be interesting to see if ABC chooses to hire another conservative to at least attempt to balance out the liberal side.
Fox News will pick her up. She fits their requirements.
Typical. Even one conservative is too many and too extreme to the far left.
I'm actually surprised you are the one who posted this! I thought it would be one of the conservatives here.

Not to the 'far left' but to the market.

We certainly wouldn't want a voice of reason on that hot mess. Considering the time that show is on, it is a welfare mamma show, anyway.
I record it and not on welfare. You're welcome

Which is the far left.
Which is why they think she is too extreme right, even though she is just a standard conservative.
If they were center left, they would ot think she was extreme.
And probably why Joy Behar is leaving and would like to find an ";intelligent talk show".
