RUSSELL SIMMONS SLAMS NRA FOR HIRING BLACK SPOKESMAN

Posted by   + Show Post

Colion Noir, a young African American who is conservative and pro-gun, is the National Rifle Association's newest spokesman, but apparently this has proven too much for rap and entertainment mogul Russell Simmons.

After seeing the NRA's intro video of Noir's upcoming NRA News show, Simmons took to Twitter to tell the gun group, "Dear @NRA, we don't trust you. Sincerely, Black America."

Simmons then wrote a longer attack at Globalgrind.com, saying that "black people ain't got no time" for the NRA.

Music entrepreneur Simmons criticizes the NRA's hiring of African American Noir and says it is "deeply troubling" that the NRA is encouraging the black community "to pick up guns again and start poppin'."

Simmons went on to say, "With smokescreens and a barrage of bullets, the NRA is intentionally playing into the fears of a very few people. Very, very few."

Simmons concludes his post saying,

Our community is not interested in a corporate sponsored gun group telling us what to do, when their real mission is to make more money for the corporations that line their dirty pockets with rolls of cash and silver bullets. We're much smarter than that and certainly can see through their motives. Until they show a real interest in solving the violence problem in our community, they can keep their Yankee hat-wearing spokesman and their African-American "campaigns" for themselves. In the words of another internet star, "ain't nobody got time for that."

Describing himself as an "urban gun enthusiast," Noir has been making Youtube videos talking about guns and the Second Amendment for some time, now, but at last the NRA has taken notice and is bringing Noir on NRA News.

Noir has attracted more than 7 million views on his Youtube channel, so his association with the NRA seems a natural fit. The young man will be doing videos for the NRA as well as traveling the country to talk about the U.S. Constitution and gun rights issues.

Are you saying that gun ownership is a market that can be increased, along with it's approval rate?

Quoting SallyMJ:

And we do. Obviously those were key factors in hiring this guy. So many, actually. They can already see from his own dozens of gun videos that he knows his stuff, and comes across really well. And is funny. And has 7 million followers who already know him. Is easy on the eyes. Is young to reach younger people. And happens to be black - who might better reach gun owners and potential owners who happen to be black.

How is it bad for the "black community" to decide to defend themselves?

This whole thing reminds me a little of the Old Spice Guy. Very personable, very good looking - who singlehandedly increased exponentially Old Spice's market share and approval rate within months.

I took it to mean if you hire white over black the race card is played. Now they hired a black man and the the race card is still played. There is no winning. IMO we should look at the person's beliefs and principles, not the color they are.

Quoting SallyMJ:

Huh?

Quoting momof030404:

Oh good....now it's damned if you do and damned if you don't. the race card can be played no matter WHAT someone does! Fabulous.

Huh?

I was speaking about Old Spice - said it REMINDED me of it - not that they are the same thing. Come on, Jax.

Examples of what liberal blacks say about conservative blacks for years.

Please don't tell me you've been hiding in a nuclear bomb shelter.

Quoting jaxTheMomm:

Which liberals viewed this man as an Uncle tom self-hating person?  Bolded below.  Hates the black community and should just kill themselves?

Where did you read that?

Quoting SallyMJ:

The thing that cracks me up, the ironic thing - is that Democrats - government leaders, celebrities - pull out the race card a LOT. And the part that cracks me up the most is that their harshest criticism /racism is for black conservatives. It is astounding.

The NRA views a man like Colion Noir as an eloquent supporter of the 2nd amendment, who is a conservative, who already has made dozens of videos about the 2nd Amendment, and 7 has million followers on Twitter and Youtube, who happens to be young. Pretty impressive already. Who happens to be black.

Liberals view the same person as a black poser - not a real black person, an Uncle Tom, an Aunt Jemima, the N word, the other N word, a self-hating person who hates the black community, who should just kill themselves, who doesn't know what he thinks but is a slave to the Republican Party who tells him what to think - who was put in place by a racist Republican Party to tell lies about guns, who likes schoolchildren to be murdered with guns.

Conservatives see a black person as a person first, who happens to be black. Liberals see him or her entirely in terms of race, and especially as a reliable vote for the Democrat Party.

So who is tolerant, and who is not?

I'm not upset, but with all the black on black crime, the last thing we Need is a black promoting guns. But that's just my opinion.

Quoting SallyMJ:

So are you also upset that the NRA has a black spokesman?

If so, why?

If not, great.
