Media neglect to report CNN, MSNBC, CBS affiliate, first to air rape victim's name - but condemn Fox only
The raw news story that all the networks were given included the victim's name - because one of the defendants had mentioned it in his statement. This is NOT standard policy - Usually the name of the victim is redacted.
The unfortunate, unintentional error by the THREE networks and the CBS affililate in question was in not omitting the name of the victim while reading the statement, and their networks not bleeping it out.
So tell the whole story. Blame ALL THREE networks AND the Steubenville CBS affiliate, if you are going to blame one. The three liberal networks comprise 75% of the offenders - or you are intentionally showing your left-wing colors.
UPDATE: "CNN, MSNBC, and a CBS local affiliate (from Steubenville, no less!) all also took part in airing the rape victim's name. And they did it before Fox ever did."
UPDATE: MSNBC and CNN also ran the clip with the girl’s name, on Sunday. Those networks did not immediately return requests for comment.
UPDATE: Huffington Post quickly updated their headline after realizing CNN and MSNBC committed the same error a day earlier.
UPDATE: ThinkProgress updated their piece with a blurb about the error by CNN and MSNBC.UPDATE: RawStory updated their post with a note about CNN and MSNBC’s coverage at the bottom. No change to headline was made.
