Possible Tornadoes Hit Texas; 6 Dead, Dozens Hurt

The fatalities occurred when the storm struck a Habitat for Humanity neighborhood in the Granbury area, Hood County Sheriff Roger Deeds said. There were about 120 homes in the neighborhood, and most of them were destroyed.

Fourteen people were still missing, and the death toll could rise, Deeds said.

About 100 people were injured, said Matt Zavadsky, a spokesman for MedStar Mobile Healthcare.

I just heard this on the news. They said there was grapefruit size hail with this storm, along with tornados, and more storms predicted for Oklahoma today. Be safe everyone in the path of these storms!

I just read about this.  So awful.  It seems like we have quite a few Texas mamas on here.  I sure hope everyone is safe!

Possible? It was an F-4 a mile wide...

Our sirens were going off but thankfully no damage other than tree branches

"grapefruit sized hail"? Holy crap!!! That on top of Tornados and its not even done? Will the parts in Texas believed to be in the heart of this mess, will they evacuate over soemthing like this or can they really not tell where it will hit next or if it'll be as bad?

Sometimes they can give sufficient warning, so people can find shelter. Some places have sirens that alert about the storms. Last night some were caught off guard by this storm. I heard of some out on a golf course when it hit. I don't guess there's any way to make sure everyone is in a safe place.
Looks like Louisiana is getting the storms at this time.

I;m so glad I don't live near tornado prone areas. They scare me to death.
