The Simple Truth: Republicans Hate Our Constitution

I’m so tired of hearing this absurd claim by Republicans that they are the “party for Constitutional values.”

I wrote an article a couple weeks ago about how Republicans love a Constitution, just not ours.  But even when I spelled it out simply for them, they still didn’t get it.  They don’t understand that simply wantingsomething to be true doesn’t mean that it is.

Republicans, listen and listen good—you are not the party of Constitutional values.  Not even close.  Just because you put a “God Bless America” bumper sticker on your vehicle and fly an American flag at your home doesn’t make you a patriot, and it damn sure doesn’t make you an advocate for our Constitution.

In fact, almost daily I read about some right-wing agenda that seeks to violate our Constitution.  It’s pretty amazing how many Republican politicians, and their voters, support the stance to ignore and dismiss federal laws if they disagree with them.

Abortion?  Well, we disagree with it, so we can try to violate the Constitutionally protected right a woman has over her own body.

The Affordable Care Act?  Well, we disagree with it, so it’s okay to try and ignore that Constitutionally upheld law.

Religion in public school?  Well, we think our country was founded on Christianity (even though the word Christianity doesn’t appear even once in our Constitution), so it’s okay to ignore the First Amendment and force religion (as long as it’s the Christian religion) into our public schools.

Freedom for all?  Well, not if you’re homosexual.  Then we’ll continue to violate the First Amendment by supporting laws that define marriage as between a man and a woman.  A belief that’s based on the Christian Bible—a belief of which millions of Christians don’t even support.

Conservatives don’t like that minorities often don’t vote for their party, so it’s acceptable to try and change our Fourteenth Amendment and the Constitutional definition of what constitutes an American citizen.

Certain demographics don’t vote for us, so let’s find ways to make it harder for them to vote. Similar to poll taxes or tests once used to discourage certain voters from voting.

When they call themselves the “party of Constitutional values,” they simply have got to be joking.

The only amendment they really defend without question is our Second Amendment—and even then they ignore the entire first half of it and just focus on the last part.

Republicans are for their interpretation of what they want the Constitution to be, not what it actually is.  Conservatives have no problem ignoring our Constitution, or violating American rights, on issues of which they disagree.

It’s just laughable that the party which openly tries to defy Constitutionally protected rights whenever they disagree with them, flies this false banner of the party for “Constitutional values.”

The worst part is, deep down they really think “Constitutional values” means a nation ruled by theocracy (a theocracy built on their perversion of Christianity), denying women’s rights, opposing gay rights, changing the definition of what it is to be an American citizen and a country where gun rights are more important than human rights.  Sadly, they’re just becoming more and more extreme on these issues, and that’s a slap to the face of our Constitution and our country as a whole.

Really??  And remind me again which party has the group that 'thinks' that the Constitution is a 'living document' and want to change it?  Oh yeah, it's the democrats - if you LIKED the Constitution would you always be trying to CHANGE the Constitution.  Maybe you just need to think it over some.

Again, we really need to get away from this finger pointing, and focus on what is best for America. Its okay to disagree with the oppossing party, but this constant fighting isn't getting us anywhere.

Pretty hysterical given the current president complaining about it getting in the way, hinting about scrapping it and starting over with a new one he came up with, etc etc.

Cripes ... I detest the NEA and the sheer amount of stupid that now roams around without a keeper in this country.

Abortion?  Well, we disagree with it, so we can try to violate the Constitutionally protected right a woman has over her own body.

There is no law making abortion a right. There is only a precedent.

The Affordable Care Act?  Well, we disagree with it, so it's okay to try and ignore that Constitutionally upheld law.

There is NOTHING in the Constitution that makes it legal or right to FORCE people to purchase something or levy taxes and penalties on them if they refuse to. There is NO ‘right to healthcare' mentioned anywhere in the Constitution.

Religion in public school?  Well, we think our country was founded on Christianity (even though the word Christianity doesn't appear even once in our Constitution), so it's okay to ignore the First Amendment and force religion (as long as it's the Christian religion) into our public schools.

The first schools in this country used only the Bible as a textbook ~ and most children (and adults) today couldn't pass an eighth grade test. Most students who manage to graduate now are illiterate, have no critical thinking capabilities (the OP is a perfect example), and leave public school without having ever learned the basics necessary to be a productive adult. Religion isn't capable of fixing that ~ but liberals and Atheists spend all their time arguing over religion rather than pushing for an actual education for children ... and in the meantime the school board blows all the tax money on trips, seminars, and building better monuments to stupidity.

As for those who founded this country ~ they wanted freedom OF religion, not freedom from it. It's about time that the minority that actually believes we're just little blobs of protoplasm bumping into each other were reminded that they ARE a minority and that the one thing the Constitution does guarantee is the right to be offended. Be offended, but stop taking rights away from others ... and for the love of peanut butter and jelly, STOP whining about not being included in something you don't want to be a part of.

Freedom for all?  Well, not if you're homosexual.  Then we'll continue to violate the First Amendment by supporting laws that define marriage as between a man and a woman.  A belief that's based on the Christian Bible-a belief of which millions of Christians don't even support.

I have no problem with gay rights ~ unless they are granted with the intention of taking away religious rights. The Constitution says we are all equal and we should be.

Conservatives don't like that minorities often don't vote for their party, so it's acceptable to try and change our Fourteenth Amendment and the Constitutional definition of what constitutes an American citizen.

Certain demographics don't vote for us, so let's find ways to make it harder for them to vote. Similar to poll taxes or tests once used to discourage certain voters from voting.

No, conservatives don't like the fact that democrats have a lot of dead and duplicate votes being tallied up. Minorities/democrats don't want to have to show ID to vote because then the dead people can't vote, and the live ones can't vote more than once. Everything else requires an ID ~ and if people don't have one to vote it's likely because they shouldn't be voting. The very best and fairest way to ensure a true vote is with ID ... and at this point I'd be happy with retinal scans or fingerprints. It's hard to fake those. If someone has lost both hands and both eyes, scan their tongue.

When they call themselves the "party of Constitutional values," they simply have got to be joking.

The only amendment they really defend without question is our Second Amendment-and even then they ignore the entire first half of it and just focus on the last part.

Just because you don't understand the language used at the time and think ‘well regulated' means a lot of laws, fees, and rules is not the problem of the Republicans ~ and all the rest of the parties who do. It's your own problem. Take a hint from your non-Constitutional abortion right ... if you don't want a gun, don't have one.

Republicans are for their interpretation of what they want the Constitution to be, not what it actually is.  Conservatives have no problem ignoring our Constitution, or violating American rights, on issues of which they disagree.

Examples?

It's just laughable that the party which openly tries to defy Constitutionally protected rights whenever they disagree with them, flies this false banner of the party for "Constitutional values."

Examples?

The worst part is, deep down they really think "Constitutional values" means a nation ruled by theocracy (a theocracy built on their perversion of Christianity), denying women's rights, opposing gay rights, changing the definition of what it is to be an American citizen and a country where gun rights are more important than human rights.  Sadly, they're just becoming more and more extreme on these issues, and that's a slap to the face of our Constitution and our country as a whole.

I do believe you need to peddle your lies someother place.  As a republican, we are not against gays, just it being shoved down our thoarts and name calling if we don't believe what you believe.  Second, I am not against abortion, just stupid women getting abortions.  You liberals, keep telling me over and over how smart you are, yet, given a chance, you have unprotected sex, get pregant and have an abortion. Where is your critical thinking skills?  Please tell me.  Stop using it against us.  Grow up.
