NFL Rejects Obama Admin: We Won't Promote Obamacare

On Friday, the NFL indicated that the league had no desire to help the Obama administration sell and implement Obamacare this fall.

NFL spokesman Brian McCarthy emailed the Washington Examiner's Philip Klein to say the NFL had no plans to help promote Obamacare:

We have responded to the letters we received from members of Congress to inform them we currently have no plans to engage in this area and have had no substantive contact with the administration about PPACA's implementation.

NFL spokesman Greg Aiello emailed the Washington Post the same statement.

Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius had said this week the Obama administration was looking to partner with professional sports leagues to market Obamacare exchanges this fall to sell the unpopular healthcare law to the public.

The NFL's statement comes hours after the two top ranking Republicans in the Senate--Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) and Senate Republican Whip John Cornyn (R-TX)--wrote a letter to six major professional sports leagues urging them not to feel threatened or pressured into supporting Obamacare.

If everyone refused to participate in it, it wouldn't be an issue anymore.

Civil disobedience, people!

Audits for all in the NFL.  I wouldn't doubt it.

Maybe they, the NFL, are protecting their bottom line.  Can you imagine if the more than 50% of Americans who hate the Obamacare act stopped buying their franchised merchandise because they are pissed at them for pushing Obamacare?

I can see the IRS employees rubbing their hands in glee at the prospect of all those NFL player and owner audits.  We all know that Obama, et al, play dirty.

That would have a worse effect on th NFL than a players' strike or a lockout.  What a way to kill a national sport!

If only the Republicans did their jobs instead of writing nasty letters. Think of how much better off the nation would be.

Since when is the NFL offering up opinions on POlitical matters? Who's opinion is this? The owners, the Players? Did they take a vote?

Then they need their tax exempt status taken away.

They don't want to take political sides in a divisive issue, big deal? The title makes it sound like they voiced a negative opinion about Obamacare rather than just graciously declining to get involved.
