In Stacey Dashâs mind, Trayvon Martin and Emmett Till are not the âsame thing.â
The actress recently blasted Oprah Winfrey for making the controversial comparison, quoting Malcolm X to make her point.
âIf You arenât careful, The newspapers will have you hating the people who are being oppressed And loving the people who are doing the oppressing ~ Malcom X,â Dash tweeted, later adding âshame on you @oprah.â
Dash also included a link to a story on the TV personalityâs interview during which she compared Till to Martin and claimed President Barack Obama is âsmartâ for not appearing on Fox News.
Dash burst onto the political scene during the 2012 presidential election when she came out against President Barack Obama and pledged her support to failed Republican candidate Mitt Romney. Dash was viciously attacked on Twitter for supporting a Republican. TheBlazeâs story outlining the so-called controversy remains the third most popular story in this siteâs history. Read it here.
While promoting her new movie recently, âThe Butler,â Oprah argued there are obvious similarities between the Till and Martin cases. âIn my mind, same thing,â she said. Watch that portion of her âTodayâ interview below:
Till was savagely murdered by a group of white men in 1955 after he was seen allegedly flirting with a white woman in Mississippi.
The men took Till to a barn, beat him viciously and gouged out one of his eyes before shooting him in the head and dumping his body in the Tallahatchie River â and thatâs the toned down version of the horrific killing.
In contrast, Martin was shot and killed in Sanford, Fla., following a violent altercation with George Zimmerman in February 2012. Zimmerman, who claims he shot Martin in self-defense, stood trial and was found not guilty on murder and manslaughter charges by a jury of his peers.
