Plz remember i am cm newbie. (some ppl on here r mean)

In another cm group someone mentioned a shutdown?
Even though i am not on the system some ppl are. My mom's only source of living is her disability.

Then someone mentioned an increase in crime. Totallysending me into panic mode. My neighbors would compleatly resort to crime.

Wouldnt a shutdown put our country at risk? Very panicky here. See,,, this is why i stay away from the news.

People like to use scare tactics to bully others into doing what they want them to do.

Pass "X" or you will all lose your jobs, lose your house/car, not be able to buy food, and you neighbors will rape/pillage your family.

It's basic middle school bully mentality. It still seems to work though.

I say, call their bluff.

The gov't was shut down before back in 1995, as I recall, for something like 100 or 105 days..I could be wrong on the length of time.

What it means is gov't deptswill be thinned to bare bones, which will delay some processes. According to the article I've linked below, yes, your mother will still get her disability check. You should read the article. And research how the potential shut down may affect you, or your mother.

This is a test of nerves, imo, and while our elected officials get to play the dare game, we all get to sit and wait to see what happens. Nothing to panic about, that is what they want and its all part of the game.

The article mentioned ss and medicare.  It didn't say anything about all the other payments they send out, like welfare, food stamps, the obamaphones, the housing vouchers, medicaid, etc. etc.  Those can't ALL be included in "social security" can they?

Gov't is bloated...If it is "shut down", all those departments should be kept at bare bones when gov't "opens back up".
